Been running the new rig almost 2 weeks no issues.
Decided with a EVGA 3080 I should upgrade the tv to 4k 120hrtz.
Next morning hooked up tv and booted pc. but just as windows loads with the log in screen. screen flickers and cant do anything. tried a bunch of things. but in the end decided fresh install of win 11.

Windows booted up fine after that. but once I install any of the last 3 driver versions for the 3080. I am back to screen lock and flickering at windows log in screen. I bought a new hdmi cable rated 4k @120hertz/ 8k @60htz. thinking this was the issue since the other hdmi cable was 4K @60hrtz.
but, to no avail, I am here stuck again. even with a new higher rated cable and everytime the screen gets to the windows log in. its locked and screen is flickering.
At this time, I pulled the cable from the tv and plugged it in my other tv and its sitting at the log in screen which I can log in. but if I connect it back to the 4k tv I cant access anything.
Damn log in screen is locked and flickering. I've been all over the net and cant find the fix.
Someone save me!!

I did notice in the NVIDIA studio driver is listed as having an ongoing issue with HDMI 2.1 ports and the monitor waking up. Not sure it's related but thought it was worth pointing out. Luckily it seems like a known issue and mostly the open issues are the ones that get the most attention in future drivers.

What model 4K TV are you using?  When you plug into your other TV, have you tried setting the resolution to say 1080p just to see if you can get a display on the other TV when you connect it back up?

    SOLVED!!
    Thanks Guys for the advice.
Like all searches it takes time and patients to find the right little piece of info that fixes your issue.
For me it never was the cable, software, gpu or drivers.
In a post on another site someone mentions when using these new 4K tv's to make sure you go into hdmi settings and make sure the hdmi port you are using you have the signal set to to VRR. Once I did this, shazam! I locked and loaded at 4K 120Hrz
Side note: when in control panel setting the resolution, make sure to choose the standard resolution option of your size and than you can pick 120hrtz. I was picking my res. in the ultra and HD areas and couldnt get 120 to show. but, when I went down to the bottom and chose standard 4K res. 120 lit up.
    Good Luck
