I was wondering if someone with technical knowledge might be able to answer for me which rear IO USB ports are connected directly to the CPU on the X570 Dark, and which pass through the chipset first.  I was hoping that the block diagram that ships with the board might cover that, but unless I am missing something that information is not included.

Interesting, interesting.  Thank you for doing some digging!  That would seem to indicate that for this board all the USB ports pass through the chipset.

We do have CPU connected ports

    pg 6 of Dark manual

    USB 2.0 Ports:
4x from AMD X570 Chipset – via 2 FP headers
1x from Update Port for flashing the BIOS without CPU
Supports hot plug/wake-up from S3 mode

     USB 3.2 Gen1 Ports:
2x external (Type-A) via X570 Chipset, 2x internal from CPU via 1 FP header
Supports transfer speeds up to 5Gb/s with full backwards compatibility
Backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 support.

     USB 3.2 Gen2 Ports:
    5x from X570 Chipset – 4x external (Type-A), 1x external (Type-C)
1x internal header via CPU (Type-C)
Supports transfer speeds up to 10Gb/s with full backwards compatibility
