Windows 11 is releasing one day early. To be prompted for the upgrade for everyone could take weeks. If you want it now go here:

might want to embed it in a couple of words, look like the long string it is getting abbreviated by the server

Thank you, but I think I'll wait a few weeks to see what collateral damage shows up in reports.

I gave up Beta testing MS product long ago ... Microsoft "Windows 2000" & "Microsoft Vista"  sound familiar & Win 8.0 was no fun

Definitely planning to grab it, just not sure when.  Current Win10 install is two years old so I was thinking of wiping C: and doing a fresh install with it.  Of course that makes the process a LOT more work since I have to reinstall things then.  Yes I know my CPU is not two years old, but built the system with a 3700X and dropped the 5950X in earlier this year when they finally started showing up for retail price.

Re: Windows 11 official rollout Wednesday, October 06, 2021 8:29 AM (permalink)
I tested the insider build that came out last week and noticed some bugs. I rolled back to w10 21H1 and ran some benchmarks that I had ran on W11 to see the difference and 10 was definitely better. Fr33thy took the time to run latency tests as a comparison between the two OS's with LDAT and 10 definitely came out ontop especially with ryzen 5000 systems. There was a bug on 11 making his cpu drop 200mhz on some games. https://youtu.be/KJpraVLbgBg

I noticed the official build was definitely different/bigger so I did another fresh install and they definitely changed something with the build to make the 0.1 and 1% lows/overall fps on par/better than 21H1. I don't have LDAT so I can't compare the latency tests which imo matters more. Overall though id say don't be afraid to try the build especially if you are more casual than competitive.

My Setup

-MSI Z490 Meg Ace
-10900K 5.2GHZ

-Artic Freezer II 360MM

Did you have any issues with the installation? Any applications that did not work? Anything that needed to be upgraded or reinstalled? Did you completely reinstall windows, or just upgrade your existing version?

I can't upgrade to Windows 11 for the following reasons:

1) This PC doesn't support "Secure Boot"

2) TPM 2.0 must be supported and enabled on this PC

3) Processor isn't currently supported for Windows 11  ( Intel i7-5930k )

Nope, not a single hiccup. I did the upgrade from 10 to 11 wanting to see how that process went. I started on my AMD rig and after it went smoothly, I upgraded my Intel/RTX 3090 rig and my HTPC rig and again both of them upgraded just fine and didn't need to reinstall anything.

If you upgrade it should allow the key to continue through. I have done so on two machines now. I have also performed a full install of Win11 with a Win7 code (after install not during), and have done a Win10 install with a Win7 code then upgrade it to Win11. All have seemed to work properly with a Win7 code.

Found one annoying bug so far.  My Epson XP-960 All in One, connected by USB...isn't always connected.  Every day...I have to troubleshoot the printer before I use.  Once done...it works fine until I start the next day.  Many complaints about the "printer" bug in Windows and Microsoft has know about this for a long time...still have not fixed it

I have the Epson XP-830 All I did was uninstall every bit of software that carried over from Windows 10 into Windows 11. I than downloaded the same Epson software all-in-one pack and everything was fixed.

Didn't work for me.  I have to run the Epson Printer Connection checker every time I boot up for the printer to work properly.  Tons of issues with many brands of printers since Windows 11 release.  Especially for those who connect their printers via USB
