I have 2 NVME installed and I am using the 1st/top GPU slot,.shoudn't there be full X16 running or am I missing something,.I AM using a Riser card as GPU is vertical mount ,. but it's a confirmed X16 GEN.4,...any Ideas appreciated!

I do not know if the 2nd M.2 NVMe SSD is cutting the x16 to x8 so please contact EVGA tech support.

I looked at the online manual for your board, and it isn't because of your nvme drives. I believe your gpu is the issue, but the only way to check that would be to use a different video card in your system, or try your card in another known good working pc. Running at x8 isn't going alter the performance at all. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-pci-express-scaling/8.html Using a 4090 as the example here, but you get the point.

the card is a late version Kingpin 3090 and the performance doesn't seem to be the Issue ,,. I just wondered why it was staying on X8!!

Question,... I caught your posts on the Gen 1/2/3 topic and you mentioned PCIe slot one set to Gen3 instead of auto,...would changing that affect the X8/X16 and I'm assuming on this board I SHOULD! set it to Gen4??,...your thoughts?? P.S. doubled checked the bios PCIe setting,. slot one Defaults to Auto and is detected as X8 Gen4

Wouldn't hurt to try setting it to Gen4 to see if it makes a difference.

Glad you got it figured out! If I had to count how many times riser cards were at fault for a whole plethora of problems for people...sheeeesh it's a lot.

thank you!, it LOOKED! seated fully,. but out of morbid curiosity,. I turned off the pc,. opened the case and PUSHED! on the PCIe retention clip,...it didn't "CLICK",.. and I went ,.."uh oh??!!",.... so then removed the riser completely, air-canned the slot out and re-seated to a RESOUNDING!,....."click",... and then all was well!!,......Heh!

glad it was an easy fix & nothing shorted with the riser cable not locked in place previously
