this is going to sound like a supremely stupid, but I hope easy question to answer. I bought the above power supply back in 2016, and I love modular PSUs, my curren video card had one cord going from VGA1 to the video card, thats using the 6+2 and a 6 pin connector. My new video card requires 2 8 pin connectors. The PSU came with 2 cords that both have a blank end, and PCI-e on the ends, both with a 6+2 connector. However, on the PSU, the only place the other end would connect is labeled CPU2. Is it my understanding that the CPU and PCI-e slots are interchangeable, and should I use that open port, or just get a new PSU?

The cpu slots are not to be used with pci-e cables. That is why they are labeled as such. Your psu comes with 4 pci-e cables and two cpu cables.

Except that on the PSU, Nothing for PCI -E is listed, and literally the only place the PCI Cable would fit, is also in the socket labeled CPU. that, plus that fact that newer PSUS say PCI-E/CPU for the same reason has me wondering if it would apply here.

VGA slots are for pci-e.

Then explain this picture:

If you look at the PCIE cables that comes with the PSU, literally the only place it can physically connect, is the CPU slot, Unless you take the 2  cords labeled "PCIe" 6+2's, and put one in each VGA slot, and attach the other end to the Video card, but even that wont line up with the connections on the video card.

Simple...

The cpu cables go to the cpu slots, and the pci-e cables go to the vga slots. If you had a newer psu that listed the slots like this...

https://c1-neweggimages-c...age/17-151-208-Z05.jpg

Then you could plug them in wherever you wanted to, but yours isn’t like that, so it’s best to keep them where they belong.

Use the cable with two 6+2 connector ends and replaced the old cable from vga1.   Your PSU has 4 GPU ports which are marked vga1, vga2, vga3, vga4.

I think I just realized the issue. I have corsair cables and EVGA cables that look legit identical. I might need to either find a new cable, or get a new PSU

The EVGA cables are marked VGA on the connectors, the Corsair cables are PCI-E or Type 4.  You can buy an  8 pin splitter cable (8 pin to dual 8 pin)

I bought a new PSU, it was time for an upgrade anyway, but I appreciate the info no doubt!
