I opened EVGA Precision X1 today and it prompt me for a update the program, than it prompt me to update the firmware for the 3080 ti 
 
what does this fix? the 3rd fan?

    EVGA doesn't monitor the forums all the time. I have asked for a follow-up if their time permits.

    No issues here, I personally just always get the latest drivers/bios/firmware/etc.  Hasn't impacted me negatively yet. (often undocumented good, and I guess maaaaybe bad changes can come with updates but it's usually a good thing)

    there has been enough complaints about the fan issues that I am going to pass on getting the 3080 FTW3 Ultra at this time.
