Thanks for the info! Will it be clear when day 1 is or is that something we should track? I'm hungry to get my KPE properly in my loop.

I have two issues with the Optimus block, one, EKWB is releasing an actual active back-plate which is extremely beneficial to the 3090 and two, yeah this is going to sound silly but man, there is no RGB whatsoever on the Optimus block. Also, cost and availability. It looks like a great design, add in an active back-plate like ekwb is releasing and RGB and I'm sold. 

EKWB last word was they have no plans right now for Kinpin block,but block on the back would help any 3090.

I went back and forth with them a little bit on the design.  They felt that since they already have the FTW3 down, the Kingpin will be similar.  I guess Strix is harder to design for.  So their design window may be shorter based on what they learned from the FTW3.

Has anyone cut or removed the hoses up to bezel on card, to add to custom waterloop, or found a way to use stock pump an cooling solution in a custom gpu loop?

Don't think it's worth the hassle, especially when we know there will be blocks for these cards.  Also hard modding the cooling solution is a good way to void the warranty.  Better to wait for a solution that won't.

You may not get an active cooling backplate but you get one of the largest backplates ever made. Its seriously a ton of copper it will be the heaviest waterblock you ever hold
The fujipoly pad is massive it litterally covers the entire backside and its pretty thick. They didnt need to do that! Honestly they must have done some testing and found it to be a better solution. If i wanted to buy a similar thermal pad it would cost me $100 !
The backside is also finned. 
I would like to see a comparison of backside temps between one with active cooling vs the optimus. I bet you will be surprised at the results 

Yeah no ETA on one of these puppies for the KPE according to their support, wouldn't even take a deposit. Probably april-may like HC probably.

My guess is it will absolutely destroy it.

This block should perform much better at keeping the VRAM cooler than blocks without direct cooling.  I would anticipate cooling levels similar to the water blocks that Optimus has already released under normal conditions.  It's when you are pushing the card really hard doing overclocks and really long gaming sessions which load the gpus that you'll see additional gains of having their (Optimus) active cooling.  Their passive cooling on the blocks they already have released is impressive but it can only do so much.  Adding active cooling takes it to another level to help reduce/maintain temps while pushing the KP hard is what I'm thinking will be the real benefit.  
 
I'll be honest though for my use I would have preferred to have the passive cooling rear plate like they have for the Strix and FTW3 blocks.  I'm not a hardcore overclocker so the additional rear active cooling wasn't a absolute need for me.  With the FTW3 block my VRAM temps are still great so I think I would have been fine with passive cooling while reducing cost of the water block for me.  Also, it looks like on their page for the KP Signature block that there are options for their standard passive cooling rear plate which would have reduced costs for the kit needed for me.  But i don't want to wait and see if they decide to release it without active rear cooling which is why I ordered mines, it's overkill for what I need but I really think their products are worth the price.

Considering that the Hydro copper water block is an awful design, I'm sure anything would be significantly better.  The Hydro Copper block has really high flow at the expense of cooling ability.
