Since I am trying to get 100 posts to sort out my elite bit...

Her is one that most of you will not consider! BEING 80% BLIND

So a while back I got eye surgery done, and they made an arse of it, first they forgot the anaesthetic, and I would like to point out that being awake getting your eye cut open, is a tad uncomfortable, then after that the shape of My eye changed and started to break up inside.

So now I see everything as a Picasso!!

therefore everything I use Computer wise has to be on BIG screens  43" 4K a foot away from my face, and i can just see it lmao. So the need for a graphics card has went from I want for the latest games... to I NEED TO GET MY FOOD and PAY BILLS.

So think about this, there are people out there like me Visually impaired / Disabled , whose whole life is tied to the computer. For basically staying alive and in contact with others. So Some of Us totally loosing the plot about Graphics cards, are not just in a huff or Peeved about the lack, they are genuinly suffering a reduction in their life quality.

This also Means that Paying £$€ 1000+ for a graphics card is 2-3 months income , and is also not an option.

Fast Onset cataracts, normal to buggered in 6 months. So cut out the lenses from the eyes and replace with plastic ones, should fix everything.... only wish the surgeon was wearing his lenses / glasses when they did the op!!

Just to add insult to injury, no numbing - in and start cutting / wrong lenses fitted (wrong size and prescription) now the eyes have ocular folds (unfixable) and are collapsing in on themselves, I see ears /Spiders / cockroaches / slugs (shapes floating about in my vision) , in a dark room at night under the quilt its still daylight, and there is no such thing as a straight line any more, all bent and twisted, through a (Deleted for Foul Language) brown colour. everything looks like a Picasso

So as you can guess , this graphics card / chip shortage crap, is really gripping my (Deleted for Foul Language) right now, LMAO

I do understand about the foul language, but the "deleted" Brown Colour , is basically an exact description of what my sight actually is!
A More Politically correct version then would have to be "Everything I see is like looking through a waterfall of diarrhoea". this takes longer to type and the 3 word version gets the point across simply and quickly and in an understanding fashion. once explained like that, the Surgeons (the ones covering the posteriors of the one who had made " a colloquialism for a lower part of a woman's anatomy"  of the surgery in the first place) were actualy able to look and find the discolouration's in the vitriol fluid of the eyes.

As to the second use of the word, Sorry My bad, on my defence I am Scottish meaning that was tame, and ex military, so a norm in conversations.

I will in future use the bigger words   with extended explanation's (lawyer speak) , rather than the direct descriptive short versions...

That sounds absolutely insane. Have you sought legal help? I'm sure you could get some compensation for the botched surgery...

We (the wife and i) basically took it as far as it could go, admin after admin after admin, nowhere near the medical side , at the end it boiled down to "you signed the consent, were ok, you're(not got big words here that fully get across the simple 6 letter foul language version -that emphasises the way that i feel -  they acted and the long term diminishing sight)

Still adapt and overcome as the saying goes, and the only easy day was sometime last year with tomorrow's only gonna get worse LMAO

Yep I get grumpy - and find myself reliant upon things that I never had to be in the past, but where the computer used to be my hobby and job, now they are the things that make seeing things a little more possible. So fighting for a thing that imporves your quality of life in my opinion beats getting the same thing to waste time with

I had cataract surgery last year on my right eye and wish now that both eyes were done. If you haven't sought legal council this is definitely something you should pursue.

Have you tried Ease of Access built in ADA software with Windows? It might assist you with text to speech & ability to large scale some items. Also ctrl - mouse wheel up for larger text and ctrl - mouse wheel down to return, to help prevent some strain on your neck and eyes.

May the Schwartz be with you!

Legal approaches are because of the pandemic now all time expired, they covered themselves by specialist referrals, that ate up the clock, then the pandemic, its a no go.  The only thing I wanted then and now is not money but a fix!!!

I had the first surgery on the left eye, and as  rjohnson11 said , the difference initially was superb (ie "Crap, that wall is bogging who picked that colour!!" ), it was 3 months later that the problems started becoming evident, then the "fixed" the right eye, that was when it all went for a ball of chalk in a swimming pool!

Before everything goes bye bye for good  , | Started teaching the wife about computers lol,  That's more painful than any surgery!!

I have most of the house voice controlled, and I had her help in building a computer geared up to controlling things  , 43" 4K display for me to use the only thing it needed then and now was a Graphics card. and that's become the Bain of my life LMAO.

I do not mind Nvidia saying £649 for a 3080, and EVGA coming along and saying we have upped it a little and we want £849 for an FTW Version... No problem!!

But £500 put onto a pile of junk, or £500 onto the Nvidia card, I am not going there!!! Hence the 3080ti does not interest me, too much money and overkill for what its going to be used for.  3070ti  I will try, otherwise its wait for the 3080 / 4080.

One of the Worst things I have helping me out and at the same time the best is the iPhone Xs, worst because I cannot see the dammed thing, best because a lot of the apps really really help , voice guidance for walking, speech to text and with the macros most of the thing can be fully voice controlled.

with everything going on, high prices and scalped prices are very much out of our budget, lol I am still trying to come to terms with the change from being a very well paid Network Consultant , to a drain on society, meaning that what I used to just go and buy I now have to struggle lol, more mentally than monetarily, as your always thinking, I need to replace / i need to get / that will possibly be good for   -versus, i just want to get, and firstly the needs of the family Have to come first over everything else.

This is something that is a very wobblily learning curve  -especially the computer side of things , I have been an engineer / consultant for 40 years (god that hurt to realise that there) , and it was also my hobby on top , its hard to just walk away from it, and just as hard to deal with it,  Thenn add  in the card shortages LMAO , just as well I am already mentally unstable lol

Had a family friend who was 100% blind and was still using a computer daily with the Accessibility options that had the computer tall back to you. It was truly amazing what technology can do.

"It was I who helped the Prime Evils mastermind their own exile to your world. The plan we set in motion so long ago cannot be stopped by any mortal agency. Hell, itself, is poised to spill forth into your world like a tidal wave of blood and nightmares. You and all your kind... are doomed."
