So I recently built a a fairly over the top build. For longevity and something to do with my son during the pandemic (last year).
Asus Formula XII i9 10900k 128gb ram
3TB (3 x 1 NVME)
1080 TI Poseidon --> EVGA Rtx3070 ---> EVGA Rtx3090
Thor 800 PSU (waiting on 1200)
So the computer started out with the 1080ti Poseidon as I couldn't acquire a new video card due to scalping and crypto miners. I bought an EVGA RTX3070 and started to notice the issues. I then acquired an EVGA RTX 3090 and installed it with new drivers etc. I usually game on steam (Satisfactory, Deep Rock Galactic, Tribes of Midgard). Ever since I installed the card these games crash immediately on start up. Deep Rock Galactic will just start and immediately crash back to the desktop. Tribes of Midgard will "fatal error - Unreal 4 engine has stopped) error out.
Here is the weird part. If I completely remove my GPU and plug it back in, start up the computer, and load the games, they work and I notice every time my sound is now coming out of monitor speakers instead of main speakers......this is fine as I can change the output of sound manually. This all works until I turn the computer off again and try to load them again without doing the same thing (unplugging gpu, replugging, start up, start game, fix sound)
I've checked the forums to all of the games and have tried multiple things.
-clean install of RTX3090 drivers
-uninstall and reinstall of Visual basic studio 2019
-updated Bios and drivers via armory crate
-Manually installed DX12 -manually loaded games with "-dx11" in launch preferences
-tried studio drivers instead of game ready drivers
I'm not sure what to do at this point. Is this is a software issue? Hardware (Mobo, GPU, maybe even my audio drivers somehow causing this issue)
Some games such as Division 2 work.
Any help would be appreciated! My son and I would love to play games without this hassle :P
