Updated the graphics VBIOS to whatever the newest version was at the time of this post. Computer requested a restart which I said yes to. Now the computer will not boot. When the graphics card is connected it also does not allow any of the USB ports on the mobo to work. But when I disconnect the graphics card, everything works just fine. I get post code 97 on Motherboard when graphics is connected. everything worked fine up until this last update.

Pc Specs:
MoBo: Asus ROG Strix z490 - E Gaming
CPU: Intel i9 10850K
GPU: EVGA 3070 XC3 ultra gaming
Ram: Trident g.skill ddr4 3600

You should have two BIOs on that card. Power down, switch the BIOs and boot the PC.

    10850k has onboard graphics, right?

If yes, connect to onboard graphics and see if you can reflash the bios for the GPU.

Did you turn off CSM in BIOS before flashing the REBAR VBIOS? My X299 FTW K has it on by default, and many people have forgotten to turn it off and can't get video out after flashing the REBAR VBIOS.

You might have to convert the boot drive if windows won't boot with CSM disabled, but that can be done from within windows with the 3070 removed.

I didn't change any settings before updating. I simply saw there was a update, clicked update now, and thats when this occurred.

Gotta love px1 bricking cards now that it can flash the vbios. You’ll need to use nvflash to flash back to the original vbios. You’ll also need to go into your bios and instruct it to only use the igpu on boot. After that you should be able to boot with your card installed into the pci-e slot.

I just tried to update my vbios also and ran into the same issue. Opening a ticket with EVGA. I tried to use nvflash but it kept giving me an error message: ERROR: NVFlash unable access Falcon control state. Thinking I might need to RMA it.

Just a side question but does is there any way to fix your system if your gpu is malfunction and the CPU does not have integrated graphics? I kinda want to go with AMD 5...X Lineup which has no iGPU so what should I buy or configure in case my gpu is not working? I want to avoid issuing an RMA as much as possible

you need a video signal to diagnose and fix the problem. Only thing you can fix without it is if you brick a mobo and it was a usb port to flash it or just a reset switch.

If you are flashing an EVGA bios, absolutely. If you are attempting to flash a different manufacturers bios, it is not.

Do other manufacturers also have similar warranty or just EVGA? If its just EVGA then thats amazing support from them.

EVGA is a little more open in their warranty than other manufacturers in my personal opinion.

Well thats why we are here then - brand loyalty with EVGA with some benefit. I hope they sort out your card if you need to RMA.

All manufacturers should support their own bios being flashed to their cards, as it would be pretty bad of them to not support their own equipment and the approved firmware for their own equipment.

I will add, some other manufacturers will try to deny warranty for opening the card to change thermal paste at thermal ads, or even adding a waterblock, but most countries have banned that practice at this point, so they aren’t able to say removing the cooler specifically voids the warranty.

Any physical damage caused by removing the cooler, from any manufacturer, absolutely voids the warranty. In most places, and I specify most places on purpose, EVGA is quicker with the warranty process and far less painful. Some locations have been having issues with warranties through EVGA due to Brexit, but I don’t have any information on what is happening because I am in the US.

You can always roll the dice by pulling the GPU, loading into BIOS and hopefully there is a skipcheck (not available on all mobo BIOS) on the PCI-E slots or default to onboard graphics (if available), which should allow you to put the GPU back in, go into Windows and re-flash it.

I have the same issue PX1 said to update the bios and I did with nothing else running then it said it failed and to contact support and not to shut off the system without talking to support. I was not going to do that but I forgot I have just recently bought the new MoBo and CPU and had installed Windows 10 Pro x64 and forgot to disable the auto restart after windows updates I am sure you can guess the rest. I am typing this on my surface pro as I can not even get a post. Any help would be appreciated. I have 2 options right now one return this to Microcenter and get a full refund and wait in line to try and get another card... yeah right or the second is to RMA the card and wait for EVGA which who knows how long that will take. Thanks for any help.
