Im having problems starting a stepup from a 3070 to a 3080. When it works I fill in the price of my card without taxes but the card I want to stepup to shows with taxes. Have the rules changed? Should I also enter the price with taxes?

The item you are upgrading to will show taxes because you’re getting a new item and there’s still a tax on new item you have to pay

Ah so there’s the catch. I was under the impression: new card excl tax minus old card excl and put taxes on that. But it is new card incl tax minus old card without tax which is much more expensive. About €120 in my case. Tnx for the reply. I knew it sounded to good to be true ☹️

It’s just like buying a new car, the new car has the full tax price of a new car, and the total cost of the trade in is removed from the final Bill. It’s not a catch, it’s a tax law.

If EVGA didn’t charge you the tax, they have to foot the Bill themselves, and that is exactly how a program like this dies a sudden death when the tax bill comes due and it wasn’t paid by the buyer.

“With a valid part, once per purchase, you can upgrade your EVGA product by paying the difference between what you paid and the price on EVGA's website. It's really that simple!”

But this statement on the website is false then because I can’t deduct the price I paid but only the price without taxes. Ah well I’ll just keep the 3070 then because this way it’s just not worth it. Too bad. I already saw myself buying EVGA everytime I was going to upgrade. Thanks for the replies.

Evga isn’t who’s putting the extra cost ... that’s the government.
