Hey guys,

So relatively soon I'm going to be putting together an open loop for the first time in a while, wanted to poke around & see what other folks are using & what they recommend.

Currently I'm just looking at getting a loop together for just my CPU, I'll integrate the GPU & likely a second radiator at a later time - right now I'm aiming to try & get something that is compatible with both my current hardware (i9 9900K) and my planned upgrade path in a few months, which would be an 11900K/eVGA Z590 Dark setup.

Right now I'm looking at these two kits, very confused as to what the price difference even is (from what I can see, the cheaper one has a smaller reservoir & different CPU block, other than that, they're pretty identical):

While I'm open to other recommendations, I kind of like the idea of ordering a kit so I know I'm getting all the parts I need to get the loop up & running.  Probably going to order extra tubing (because my case is large & I'd rather have too much than not enough), and I may even go ahead & order the 2nd radiator instead of ordering it later, and just keep it in the box until I can incorporate the GPU in to my loop.

Current system specs since I know some people are on mobile and/or don't see signatures:

Intel i9 9900K (Socket LGA 1151) (currently cooled by an aging Thermaltake Floe 280mm AIO that is so old it's tubing is unreasonably short)
Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Master (Rev 1.0)
G.Skill Trident Z RGB RAM 4x8GB @ CL16 3600MHz 1.35V
eVGA RTX 3090 K|NGP|N Hybrid
eVGA P2 1200W Platinum PSU
Thermaltake View 91 Case
& a metric crapolaton of fans (20 total if you include the GPU's on board fan)

Ignore the current tube-debacle, I'll be fixing that tomorrow... The case is huge, so I have plenty of room to work with - not really looking to go super fancy like using a distro-plate, much as I'd love to, for the initial loop I'm looking for a KISS setup - "Keep It Simple Stupid"

It looks like the more expensive kit has the newer fittings, newer style pump(with the same D5 pump inside), a soft tubing cutter, and a fluid dye kit.

With the capacity for radiators your case has, I'd add a 420mm or 480mm front radiator, additional radiator fans, 2 more fittings, and another bottle of EK-CryoFuel Clear Concentrate.

The configurator on EKWB's site says this will work with your case, CPU, and motherboard and allow you to have the cooling capacity add in a water cooled 3090 later.

Definitely not getting a monoblock, much as I'd love to, planning an eVGA Z590 Dark/11900k upgrade soon so that would be a waste to get a monoblock for a board I'm not keeping much longer.

I am seriously considering ordering the P240 version of the kit with the smaller radiator, then adding a thicker 360 or 420 or 480 radiator, a bit more tubing, additional fittings, and some splitters, and having the setup so that if I end up with a blocked 3090, I can do a full loop with that included.  The fans being so expensive when purchased separately is a drawback to that though, my current idea is to keep the Kingpin on it's Hybrid cooler with that top mounted, then have the CPU loop radiator on the front of the case, and do the tubing for a clean looking build mostly.
I wish they sold kits with the option to change just the radiator/fan size, I'd love to get a 420mm with 3 140s instead of the 360 - I know that wouldn't make much of a difference in cooling capacity, but it would fit more squarely in my case, as the front has the ability to fit 3 140mm fans & 1 120mm fan as intake, with room to spare (for the radiator tanks).

There's definitely plenty of room for a complex loop setup, so really the sky's the limit, the current setup is a bit of a mess because the tubes on this stupid Thermaltake AIO (which provides superior cooling to an EK 360 AIO somehow) are so short:

The Kingpin AIO's mount is weird because of it too lol

I could do a top & front mounted rad, with one of those fancy flat reservoirs they have on the side mount area, kinda like this:

But with that front-left radiator to the side being one of these:
