Hi,

Just received a new EVGA 750 Watt GT Supernova (P/N 220-GT-750-Y1) and tried the tester that came with the PSU for the motherboard cable. The fan starts spinning for < 1 second and then stops. Does this mean I have a faulty unit?

No..That PSU has "Auto ECO Mode to ensure silent operation under low to medium loads with no configuration necessary"..Auto ECO Mode means ECO Mode is on at all times and there's no switch to manually turn it on/off like some other units have..The fan will only come on when needed when the PSU temperature gets hot enough..You'll probably see/hear the fan come on during gaming/stress testing your PC.

I really hate the stupid eco mode, why would i want to not have the fan blowing cool air at some speed at all times over the components inside?! Cooler they run, the longer they run well..... good for me, bad for sales!

Noise levels from what I've read.  Mine has the option to turn it off as I'm like you, I want the fan on all the time in some form.  Let it adjust the speed all it wants, but it should stay on.  I'm partially deaf so noise levels doesn't affect me as much.
