Just curious what is everyone's gameday plan for the Zen3 launch on Nov. 5th?  I haven't seen anyone's plan yet on how they'll sell the CPU's yet. I doubt many (if any) will follow AMD's recommendations, but it is still something to look out for.
My new gaming build, up this point, is universal between Intel or AMD; Just missing the MB and CPU.  I don't want to commit to the MB if I can't get my CPU of choice in a timely manner, so I'm kind of stuck at the moment.

I also have doubt that any retailers will follow AMD's recommendations. Retailers don't care who buys the stuff as long as the money is good. If wanting the best then the new AMD Zen 3 cpu's are what you will want but if wanting a good deal then Intel for gaming would be a good option. Intel will soon be the budget alternative but unlike old AMD FX days for gaming it's a fine alternative. You don't give up much performance and only a few features like PCIE gen 4 and more lanes.

If you're going to go Intel, you may as well wait til Q2 of 2021 for their PCIe4 boards/CPUs. If you're building right now, going X570 is definitely the way.

I'll be making an effort on the 5900x.  Just not sure where I should camp to get one at this point.
Maybe even camp at a Best Buy location on release day.  We'll see as the date gets closer.  I'd prefer to get Zen3 over Intel if at all reasonably possible.

Someone told me it was going to be the review launch, but actual hardware wouldn't launch until later in the month... another announcement of an announcement, again.

I wouldn't expect widespread availability for the rest of this year. As mentioned here above, I doubt retailers actually "care" who buys their products as long as someone buys them. I wouldn't expect many (if any really) retailers follow any of AMD's suggestions to mitigate bots. Also with the amount of people currently at home that haven't been spending money on trips or whatnot for the last 6-7 months and a surplus of disposable income now, even without bots running rampant I'd expect initial stock to sell through in virtually minutes anyway. Don't hold your breath on launch day to actually get one. I personally will never camp out for a piece of hardware I'm not even guaranteed to get either but that's also me so I can't speak for your limits.

I have a Microcenter an hour and a half drive from me, I may make that trip if nothing else pans out on launch day.

That's not the way Ryzen works. When you manually overclock you lose any boosting of individual cores. If you set a 4.3Ghz all core clock that all you get.

I did camp out at a CompUSA for a Black Friday deal to build a new PC.  I got there at 1am or 2 with people already in line.  I wanted to have that "camping out" experience for once and it was pretty cool.  Got free coffee and english muffins from the staff while we wait.  People were enjoying conversations, playing games, etc.  Of course now...I won't do that. lol.  My limit will be like an hour or two before the store opens.  I'll probably have to call ahead to see what they'll have in stock if I decide to go this route(I know they won't give quantities until day of, but they should be able to tell me what models).

that was a complete fail.  Everything went instant "sold out".  I saw the "add to cart" twice and it was gone. lol.  No better than the 30 series, which makes the upcoming 6000 GPU series release pretty ominous with the same results.

I couldn't even find the product listings on Amazon and Best Buy, yet they were sold out. Newegg only showed me bundles(which were in stock but useless for me) and when I did see the product listings, they were also sold out. My local Microcenter had them in stock for a good amount of time, but I didn't want to go there. I'll wait until they are in stock. If Zen 2 is anything to go by there will be plenty of stock soon enough.

TSMC 7nm is a mature node and AMD should have plenty of steady supply, shouldn't be half the mythical unicorn Ampere has turned out to be for the general public. That said it probably is going to take a month for stock to stabilize though...

Yeah, I could only find it on best buy after looking up the sku#.  Any word search came up with nothing.  Didn't matter as I just saw the "add to cart" and then "sold out" in under a second.  I don't think there's a way to do an instant buy on best Buy's site, so bots got all of those for sure.  I hope the stock stabilizes in November.  It'd be nice to game on a real powerhouse gaming PC in December.

Got lucky with Best Buy today as they implemented a new checkout process for the 5600x.  I was actually able to snag one with plenty of time to spare this morning.  It's already shipped and I should get it early next week.  Guess they listened a little.
On another note, I also pre-ordered a 5900x from Shopblt.  That might come in Dec. 1 (doubtful with the number of people who pre-ordered [~17,000] but it's a quantity the site said is on order to be delivered, so...here's hoping), but I really really needed an AMD processor to complete my build, so the 5600 will work out well while I wait for the 5900x delivery.  We'll see how all of this pans out.  Good week for the Ryzen 5000 series.

I decided to stay with team blue since Nvidia is working with Intel regarding SAM tech. I will be playing it safe incase AMD decides to block SAM for Nvidia cards.
