Why doesn't Jacob wait a few hours to announce stock updates on Twitter?

I understand him announcing it right away is a great business move, financially. But they are all going to sell *anyway* at this point, so why not wait a few hours and let some people hitting F5 have a chance without the server crashing. I don't mind having to be fast to get the card, but what good is fast when you get nothing but errors? So why not announce stock a few hours later to "purge sell" the rest of the cards that regular users don't grab up? It doesn't effect EVGA's bottom line at all, and evens out some of the traffic flow. Just a thought.

(I think I posted this in wrong forum, before.)

Just wanting to be as fair to the bots as possible. People who use bots are people too

Seems like a good idea for those of us that can't f5 all day or follow a snatcher or distill.

From what I read, bots are 24/7 and will sniff sites for restock.  If there's no announcement, bots will get it before you even have a chance; so pretty much going from 1% chance to 0%.

If I understand what you are asking. The Leftovers from bot checks etc. are probably too small an amount to honestly refresh them into the inventory quickly and have the site crash all over again. It makes more sense to try and save up inventory so they have a few hundred cards instead of putting up like 20 cards

i think it'd be best to just give people a checkout code or put a captcha, like hasbropulse did. last few years was hell to get their preorders, but this year i got everything i wanted and then got a preorder for some random guy who wanted something as well, at cost :)

Bots make me cry, hopefully they can find a way to fight them

You can fit bots, ya just have to stoop to their level. Like no ones buy new gen gpus at launch for thew first few weeks, , would ring-a-ding some corporate bells to fin do something on there end. There are ways to control a proper launch. Scalpers, Coin'ers, and gpu hoarders will can be fined by local law...

Or like I said, we just dont buy gpus at new-gen launches, dont buy from scalpers or 3rd parties, would send a clear message to Nvidia, but most consumers are impatient, and thats whats feeding this kind gpu launch horsecrap....

Because if Jacob waited a few hours then there would be nothing at all to announce. They would already be sold out regardless.

His 5 minute warning is just enough time so that humans who are online and paying attention can get to the site in time,  but not enough time for anyone else to react. Their site gets completely wrecked by all the traffic; no need to make it even worse. If he announced sometime after the drop a lot of cards would end up in the hands of bot users.

The only time I got close was from his announcement. I'm following on Twitter closely. I like knowing if I even have a chance for the day or not
