When do Best Buy charge your card for in store pick up?

I have bought a z490 and a 10700k from Best Buy for in store pickup.     I used a debit card.     I was certain on previous occassions they charged me before I went in and picked it up.
 
It's been nearly a week now and both my orders are saying "Processing..."  with the pickup date continuously being extended each time I check.   Also the CPU is now down to "Only one in stock" at the local store so I'm starting to get frustrated.    I got on live chat and they claim they don't charge until you pick it up.
 
But what I really want to know is should it take it a week to process a payment for items that they have in stock locally?

    Last time I made a pick up purchase at Best Buy, they did not charge my account until I picked up the item(s). You should have gotten an email telling you your items are ready to pick up.

    Call them with your order number and ask.

    Yes on all previous purchases it was within 24 hours and I got an email saying items were ready for pickup, but this time they are dragging their feet.  I see the money has left my bank account, so what is it exactly they are "processing" that's taking a whole week?

    Call them with your order number and ask. 




    Well I did get on the live chat and she asked me for the order numbers and told me they'd be ready by "Sept 24th"  but she was only reading what I was reading in my orders, and that keeps getting pushed forward one day every day I check.

    Go into the store and show them the money has been taken out of your account and ask for your products since the site shows the items in stock.

    Last time I used their "pick up in store" option, they charged me immediately after I purchased the item online.

    I drive past the store every day on my route, so would be the easiest I guess.

    typically it should be charged at pickup.
