Hi All

New member here.

I’ve been using an EVGA GTX 1060 (3GB) for some years now for a bit of gaming.

Everything was great till yesterday.

I booted up the PC and my resolution is locked at 640x480 in the BIOS and Windows etc.

I think this must be a hardware issue as the resolution is locked before any operating system loads.

In addition, only one of the two DVI ports work. The HDMI and DP also do not work.

I read something about my TV not sending the EDID to the card? This is why the resolution cannot be changed.

Thanks in advance

CPU: Intel i7 3770
MB: GA-B75M-D3P (BIOS F7)
GPU: EVGA SC GTX 1060 (3GB)

No, EDID would not cause this issue. You have a hardware issue. Have you reseated the GPU in the PCIe slot? All power cables on the GPU and motherboard? Do you have another system you could test the GPU in?

If you open the Windows Device Manager and look at your video card in the list (under Display Adapters), do you see a exclamation logo next to the icon?  I suspect that the video card is throwing a Code 43 error.  If you right-click on the video card in that list, and click Properties, under Device status, it should say "This device is working properly".  If instead the Device status is "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)", often this means that the video card has failed.

Code 43 video card errors can sometimes be resolved by reflashing the BIOS to the card and/or reinstalling the video driver, but otherwise are often terminal.

I seem to recall a similar issue on the Surface tablets a few months ago...I think it was a driver issue.

Can you try clearing your drivers with DDU and reinstalling?
