my PC was running and i left the house for a bit to come back to inside and just see the BIOS screen sitting there. i restarted the PC and i got the long Beep no post. tried it again and then it just sits there with the FTWK screen. it completed post and is show the cpu temp on the 7 segment display. I reset the bios and it did the same steps again, long beep and setup the m2 drive setting, turnning it on and then putting it as theboot device and nothing.
So i grabbed the Win10 DVD to try and do a repair and the drive is just not there. In the top right of the bios i dont see the PCI_E channels, that if i remember right, it shows when there is a m.2 drive. BIOS v2.06 Did my motherboard completely just lose the M.2 slot? I have only had this board for a few months after the last one failed (this board i got from EVGA through RMA)

You have to see the drive in BIOS .. so double check your settings Best to save a profile so resetting BIOS is easy Check the manual & confirm settings could be the drive died .. don't know

i did all the settings i usually do and its not there so either the board game up on it or the chip died. I thought the idea of solid state style drives was to increase speed and reduce HD failures...

Confirm the M.2 is still fully installed & screw is tight ... could have come loose ? Might have to test in different M.2 Slot .. or PC - maybe a card adapter - internal or external

Clear CMOS again and review the BIOS Setup and Windows Installation for M.2 and PCI-E NVMe SSD's on page 19 of the Motherboard Manual. Also, if your BIOS has a Hard Drive BBS Priorities (or something similarly named) setting, the SSD may be shown there where you can select it to become a Boot Option in the Boot Device settings of the BIOS.

i have followed those steps multiple time and it works and then it doesnt. i really think something has corrupted the MB and in turn crashed the M.2 Drive. Some times i can get it to go into windows repair but none of the features work and so i restart and then i get a BIOS single long beep and it wont post. i have to restart a few times and then the long beep goes away and i can get back into the BIOS. I noticed this time that the boot option 1 changed. It no longer says "Hard Disk:Windows Boot Manager" it just says hard disk and this is no option for Windows Boot manager in the drop down. (i still need the M.2 Drive on the PCI-X lanes in the top right though)

1 Long Beep usually indicates a RAM problem..Any POST Code it stops on? Try setting the RAM to an X.M.P Profile and/or setting it manually to the manufacture's rated Frequency, Timing and Voltage specs with a 2N Command Rate (tCMD to 2N). Reseating the RAM or trying 1 stick at a time wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Oh darn it. yeah i forgot to do that after the BIOS reset. I still think there is something wrong with the mb. it did finally make it to windows (first time its made it all the way there in maybe 100 tries. but every other restart i still get the long single beep even reducing it to 1 stick of memory (tried all 4) Basically i hear the long beep, i hit the rest button and next it doesnt long beep and is now able to load windows. I appreciate all your help thus far bob.

Well, I guess that's great progress ..But the drive still isn't showing up in the BIOS, huh? Exactly what M.2 SSD do you have?..Can it maybe be seen in Windows Disk Management where you can right-click and bring the drive "Online" if it says "Offline", Initialize, Partition, Add Drive Letter and Quick Format using the New Simple Volume Wizard's default settings? (doubtful, if it's not recognized in the BIOS). Exactly what RAM do you have? Tried disconnecting all other drives to see if the SSD becomes visible in the BIOS/Windows? Tried reseating the CPU after cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth and checking for any heavily discolored contact pads that need scratched/polished up a little and checking for socket pins being bent/damaged?

In addition to bob16314, is the windows load on this drive or a different drive? If it is possible try the drive in another system to rule out a failing drive.

: EVGA X299 FTW K, 142-SX-E297-KR, LGA 2066, Intel X299, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.1, USB 3.0, EATX, Intel Motherboard.
I have had issues with the computer freezing several times a week. Then it go a week or so nothing. It then would stop and nothing would work. It would take 1 to 5 minutes and then it flash on my screens and work again.I try opening drives and it does it slowly. Yesterday the drive stop working in the M.2 slot and I can't see it in the Bio's. Tried other m.2 drives and nothing. Yet they all work in the other M.2 slot. This is only 1 1/2 years old and was a RMA replacement on a X58 motherboard that Had a lifetime Warranty. This is crazy. Left messages and no return calls from EVGA.
