Right now I have 7 NVMe drives in my X299 Dark. One on U.2 PU2 port, one in each M.2 slot, and four on Asus Hyper M.2 x16 V2 card that is in PE6 slot that is bifurcated through non-VROC option in 1.23 BIOS.

When I take a look at NVME Information in BIOS it lists only four drives and it seems to list only first four in following order: a) PCIe slots, b) U.2 ports, and c) M.2 slots.

So if Asus card is not in it lists what is on U.2 PU2 plus what is in M.2 slots for a total of three (see screenshots below).

If Asus card has two drives in it lists those first, then what is on U.2 PU2, and then just one of M.2 slot drives.

If Asus card has four drives in it lists those four and nothing else.

Windows seems to be able to find and use all of them fine.

So this seems to be case of hardcoding number of those that will be displayed to four even though they all can be discovered.

Can this limitation be removed, please?

In my opinion it could be that you only see 4 because you have run out of PCI-E lanes (limitation of the processor and motherboard). I would ask that you contact EVGA support during business hours to confirm this or see if there is indeed an issue.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

This setup consumes 44 lanes (x16 for video card + 7 * x4 = 44), X299 Dark has 44 hardwired lanes and i9-10900x has 48 so I did not run out.

Even if I have missed to account for something this same behavior is experienced with only 2 drives in Asus card and that puts me well under 44 limit so I have eliminated that as a possibility.

Have you changed the setting to turn the slot to Raid (X4X4X4X4) One of the main features of this bios version was that ability being added without Intel VROC.  I think it is under one of the CPU options if I recall correctly.  Kind of an odd spot but its in there.  Upon rereading your message, it appears that everything is working but just not showing in the bios.  That is most likely a display issue perhaps.  I guess if it works, run with it, but it would be nice to know the answer if not what I suggested which if they work is most likely not the case.

Yes, I did (I believe correct term is turn on bifurcation, not RAID), then rebooted and after that checked NVMe information tab.

Not my term (RAID), just what it indicates in my bios (1.09) literally the slot option is (PCI RAID).  I have been holding out due to performance penalties.  That is strange, but correct in what I was asking.  Did you figure it out? I guess if it works in Windows, it works, so the display in bios is just cosmetic.

No such thing as too much fast storage LOL There is a method to this insanity, trust me ... I hope  all will be revealed in the end ...

I believe X299 Dark didn't have an option to use bunch of NVME drives on a PCIe card in a non-RAID setup until BIOS V 1.23 so I feel we are talking two different things.

In any case EVGA got on top of this and, as I suspected, this was a matter of hardcoding how many drives info will be displayed for in BIOS. I've tested beta version of BIOS over the weekend and it correctly shows info for all 7 drives.

So I feel this is on its way to being resolved thanks to EVGA promptly and gracefully handling it.

As Zoran noted, I have a beta BIOS to correct this.  It was just a leftover artificial limit that limited the number of drives to display to 4.
