I just installed my new 1660ti sc ultra today, and when it's cooling down the fans pulse. They sort of spin up once per second repeatedly until the gpu gets cool enough to turn the fans completely off. It starts as the gpu drops to about 43 or 42 degrees. If I have my case open I can also hear a click every time the fans spin up. The fans spinning up may be louder than the fans at full speed. Edit: It seems to happen when the fans are between 2% and 30% fan speed. edit 2: Here's a screenshot of the rpms taken from afterburner. The first part is idle, and even though the fan spiking very briefly in the beginning, I don't hear it, and it keeps the temps low. Then I play a game, and the spikes after the game are the loud pulsing. Eventually it dissipates.

Just set your own fan curve and your issue will probably be solved

I tried setting my own fan curve - I set the fan to drop to zero after 41 degrees C and that worked to keep the fan from pulsing, but instead it revs up loudly every once in awhile, while idle, to keep it at 41 degrees. On the default setting, at idle, the fan will rev at a slower speed, more often, and I can't even hear it happening. Edit: I added a screen capture of a history graph showing the rpm of the fan. When it's idle and quiet, when it's in a game and quiet enough, and when it's loudly pulsing while cooling down.

My solution to the problem would be to just use static fan settings, so at idle set your gpu fan speed to like 30% speed, and then when you go gaming set it to 80% to 100%.

If I was going to do that, it would make more sense to just set a fan curve to idle at 30% and forget about it. But it would be louder at idle than it is now.

Yeah I never have a fan set to 0, whether it be a case fan or radiator or CPU or GPU fan, always a minimum of 25% for me.

If you want a quiet system go with watercooling.

Set Hysteresis to 3 - 5 then when fan comes on it will have to cool card the set number in C before fan stops Fan on @ 40C ... hysteresis set to 4 ..... fan goes off below 36 C I like a curve where the fans never stop ...

Setting the hysteresis was a good idea. That way it doesn't spin up as often, but it does spin for longer. Turns out the minimum for non-pulsing is about 35%. Also, these fans are fairly loud. Not jet engine loud, but they sound like an across the street neighbor mowing their lawn. Or maybe using a trimmer, or a leaf blower. It's also a little like a fly buzzing. All the reviews on this card seemed to indicate that these fans were supposed to be quiet. I'm starting to wonder if my card is defective.
With all of my cards in the past I set them so that the fans never stop, but this card was designed from the factory to turn off and runs relatively cool. I don't know why the fans are so loud.

I wish I could talk to someone who has the same card so I could determine if my fans are defective, or if they're supposed to sound like that. I also wonder if it has the same fans as the GTX 1660 TI XC. The product page says the XC has "Hydraulic-Dynamic Bearing fans" which offer "increased performance with a fraction of the noise". They're very similar cards, with a very similar price, but my fans don't sound like increased performance with a fraction of the noise.

Noise from the Sound of Moving Air / Pressure created by the fan --> Both Fans at Same RPM should make less sound OR the sound of the axle turning = bearings You have an Open Case or is the PC on your Desk top ?

It's on my desk, but the case is a Fractal Design Define R4 with the solid cover, so it has some sound dampening.
I think it might be the bearings that are loud.

Here's a video youtu.be/8K3kle5Ck3w At first, the fans are off. The fan sound you hear is from my Hyper 212 Evo cpu fan. There might be some hard drive sounds in there also. Then I start an msi afterburner stress test at 4 seconds. At 39 seconds, I turn the test off. The rest of the video is what happens when the card is cooling down. The pulsing I was talking about starts at about 1:04 Here is a history graph of the fan rpms during the video

I have the same card (GTX 1660ti SC) with the same issue.
The card works well, no issues other than the Nvidia drivers that never seem to be on par with every release. The pulsing had been there since day one I guess. I heard it once I opened the casing to manage the gpu temp better. I’m changing the casing soon and until I do the side panel is removed to keep it between 60-70 deg so I started hearing the pulsing everytime the gpu is cooling down.
No way around it, while on load, even minimal, as soon as it reaches above 36-40 deg both fans spin at a steady pace. Otherwise, it seems as if the card has the forward fan (the connector side fan) to be pulsing. I don’t think both fans are pulsing.
I don’t know if you still have the issue or if you fixed it ? If so how ? Thanks.

Same issue with rtx 2060 KO. Evga quality isn't the same as it once was. Now they want us to set fan curves instead of fixing the problem.

I have an rtx 2060 super sc black and my fans spin up full speed at random when just browsing the web. I have contacted support and they suggest fan curve with X1 but that isn't a fix and I really was underwhelmed with the software and how it operated (closed at random for no reason). Also the card seems to run the fans rather loudly when gaming, maybe this is working by design but surprised how loud they are. Hopefully EVGA is working on a real bios fix for this issue.

I got good results with the Precision X1 to be honest. Afterburner has to be reinstalled twice while X1 has been solid and stable since day 1 for me. Always been a fan of subtle and lower power and memory overclocking. I like to go for longevity with my gear.
Anyone heard of a potential solution to work with the pulsing of the fan ?

Unless EVGA offers some sort of Update for this card Fix RPM or Custom cure with Hysteresis other than 0 (default is 0) [from post #8] Set Hysteresis to 3 - 5 then when fan comes on it will have to cool card the set number in C before fan stops Fan on @ 40C ... hysteresis set to 4 ..... fan goes off below 36 C I like a curve where the fans never stop ...
