Morning everyone, I'm hoping that someone on here can help me as I am getting different answers from Evga technical support. Can someone please tell me what the thickness is of thermal pads used on the 1080 Ti FTW3? So far one person from technical support has told me that 1mm pads are all that is needed, another said that to use 1.5mm thick pads on the whole card and an email response gave me the dimensions for two of the thermal pads on the card and listed one of them at 2mm thickness. I have tried measuring them with a caliper but my caliper is sadly not that accurate and its hard to get a read off of spongy material. Is there a data sheet somewhere that someone can point me to or does someone on here know the answer to this? Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry no offense but i couldn't resist

If you can't find 2mm thermal pads for backplate, use 1.5mm. It's totally fine. I did 1mm for inside and 1.5mm for backplate. Six month have passed - all is incredibly good!

That link is for the 1080/1070 for what i think is the thermal pad mod that Evga had to take care of. I could be wrong but it does not say 1080 Ti anywhere.

There is no simple answer to the thickness of the pads on the GTX1080 Ti FTW3 model, as they are not all one thickness.
- The ones on the underside of the baseplate, which contact components on the PCB, are all 1.25mm in thickness.
- The ones on the top of the baseplate, which contact the heatsink are 0.75mm and 0.25mm, 2 of each.
- The ones on the backplate are all 2.0mm thick except for the square one on the back of the GPU die, which is 0.75mm thick.

Now that seems a little confusing

Thermal pads are usually only available [Retail] in 0.5mm increments

0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm .......

We use .25mm increments for some pads, going up to the next size (.25mm), if that is what is available to purchase, will not cause any issues.

Yes, 1.5mm can be used in place of 1.25mm pads on the FTW3 card
