So I have been doing very extensive testing and I am out of ideas. The quick story is my 980ti has a bunch of Nvidia driver crashes about 1 crash every 2-4sec for about 2-3hrs then hard lock. It only happens while idle at night or when I am not using the computer at all. I have tested memory with 0 errors. I have stress tested the cpu for over 24hrs multiple times with a suit of different stresses 0 crashes. I have tested the GPU for over 24hrs several different programs 0 crashes. Gaming works with 0 crashes no matter the game. But as soon as I leave it at idle it can have a massive driver has crash over and over with in 1hr to over a month before it happens each time. I have now spent 5 months testing and dealing with it. My next testing is going to drop a non nvida gpu in and see if it continues to happen but I dont have anything but nvidia atm. Does anyone have any sort of ideas. Looking for any input at this point. Thanks in advance.

I am currently running 388.13 but i have tried all nvidia drivers. Also I ran gpu stress test and all temps are solid and no crashing. Also its a 980ti ftw. At this point I am guessing its maybe a stick of ram starting to have intermittent errors and does not have a full blown problem yet or my IMC in the cpu is crapping out. 

You sure your pc isn't infected with something?

Sorry the pc is a server build I put together a while ago.

Computer has been kicking for since 2016 till the last 8 months or so having these random lockups with Event ID 4101 " Display driver nvlddmkm stop responding and has successfully recovered ". 
 
PC is clear of any infection or otherwise. 
 
I have disabled all sleep states and turned them back on to no anvil. Biggest problem with it is that it can take a day for it to crash to almost a month. So very random.
 
No reports in Livekernelreports.
 
Have tested each stick of ram at a time as well as together. The issue I am running into is so far in memtest86. Only sometime it will fail test 7. I truly think that at this point its a bad memory stick that is only just starting to have an issue and it has not had a full fail yet. I know as rare as it is but maybe the IMC is going bad. 
 
While testing the machine I have slowly cut all apps out until I have reached bare minimum for windows to run. Unfortunately still has been locking up randomly.
 
So at this moment I am at 2 days no lockup. So I have spare 2011 cpus I can throw into the pc to test both cpu and motherboard. I have many ddr3 sticks to try as well just do not have matching sticks for another quad channel set. I just really did not feel like ripping apart my pc. It was acting as my server for my security system and ran my nas. So now that I have a backup system in place I will be testing it even more thoroughly. I will report back with more info as I start tearing it down to try more things out. Thanks for the help so far everyone.
