It has been the way nvidia has done video cards forever. At least since windows 95. Its commonm knowledge.
Also, when the Titan X (Maxwell's) came out, nvidia's site still said recommended memory was 24gb (heck, even EVGA's recommendation was 24gb). Both have since retracted that 24gb needed, and nvidia even took out the part where the cards WOULD destroy themselves if not on at least a 24gb system.
There are posts in the evga 900 series video card section about it, and on reddit, that may still have links and/or screenshots of them, and of the cards inside the nvidia and evga video card boxes stating it needs 24gb.
But, the upshot has been workarounds, setting memory management to system managed, and everyone had only 16gb memory when those cards came out, and probably still now. Youtubes and review sites say you dont need 2x the memory. BUT, there was still that Nvidia, on nvidias site, that said the card would degrade fast and eventually stop working. So, why even bother NOT going 32gb, especially when 32 over 16 is just like smooth as glass, just like gsync is to non-gsync monitors?

If you are only putting together an interim system, and not one to last (my last system lasted 9 years, and is my backup system now, still working), then cheap out on stuff and save money for a really good build in the future.
If you want to build a system to last, then get components, and take recomendations from people who know, that will make a system last a lifetime (heck, I still have an Athlon system that runs win 98se, for those game that will only run on a 4:3 monitor, and wont speed up/slow down because you have 2 or 4 core cpu's, or over a 512mb video card).

Google around, I am sure you can find the nvidia, evga, and reddit posts still.

I just got an i7 8700k processor and no I won't overclock it cuz I dunno how to but only on stock volts so I am a noob unless I hire someone to do it for me lol.

I need huge advice on what build I should build to run an amazing PC system that can max out everything in every PC game out there. I want the honest best advice ever so I can have the smoothest experience for years to come!

These are the games I am currently playing right now and soon.

This is my current system I plan to appraise and sell.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K overclocked to 4.4ghz only a few months. Never been overclocked for years.
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060-6GB SSC Had this since Sep 20, 2017. (Not sure if I wanna sell this but optional) Still has the warranty intact. I replaced the thermal paste with Arctic MX-4
Cooler: Corsair H100iv2 (Had this since Mar 5, 2018)
SSD: Samsung 830 256GB
HDD: WD Black 1TB--(Got rid of the hard drive and switched to Seagate FireCuda SSHD 1TB)
HDD: WD Blue 500GB--(Got rid of the hard drive and switched to Seagate FireCuda SSHD 1TB)  One hard drive installed not two just for the current build. Plan to use it for the new build anyways. Hope I didn't make a mistake getting this Hard Drive.
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 C9 4x4GB
Monitor: BenQ GW2450 Glossy Black 24" 4ms (GTG) Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 DC 20,000,000:1 (5000:1) DVI-D and VGA only. 1920x1080p 60HZ
MBD: Asus SABERTOOTH Z77
PSU: EVGA 850 BQ Cable Mod Green Sleeves included.
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (Spare Parts) Working case but the front panel header connectors cables are ruined. Nothing simple soldering can do. I will include the original fans too. Everything is in the case except the Front Panel Header connectors are disabled. It's easy to solder the damaged cable and put it back on. I already replaced the circuit board for lighting in the case.

Current new case I am already using is NZXT H700i with the old build inside for the time being.

i7 8700k stock clocks (No overclocking will be done but I wish I could but not gonna go for it.

Ignore the budget price since it will be less than that since I personally already own the video card and hard drive and cooler but I may get another H100iv2 as a backup but probably waste of money. However, I need help with the best Gaming affordable PC monitor that can support 1080p. NO idea if I need a 120hz monitor. I don't know if I should go 1440p because I am not overclocking anything unless you fellas think it will run okay otherwise. I know I will need a Dual Link DVI-D for this for higher refresh rate.  So help a gamer here. I want the smoothest experience ever for years to come. I still wonder if I need to get a better video card or what? My warranty is about to be up. I seriously need to change the thermal pads. I already re-applied thermal on the 1060 SSC but I think this card is getting a bit old. I am still unsure if I should get the z390 when I was told the z370 is cheaper but EVGA is something I don't mind trying but ASUS has never failed me. I saw a few MSI boards that are good but I want good performance not motherboards with cheap VRM's. I barely know much but I have educated myself enough to understand how great a motherboard can run.  I just love bios flashbacks. They are so easy to use a button to push. I hate doing it the old fashioned way that's me lol.

These are the games I currently run right now.

Battlefield V
Battlefield 1
Battlefield 4
The Crew 2
Star Wars Jedi Academy
Tony Hawk Skater HD (Almost finished with it)
Assassin Creed Odessey (Might reinstall Origins)
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Star Citizen (Already an alpha access member) Pledged years ago. The game is not released yet.
Friday the 13th
Star Trek Online and New Bridge

*Games I plan to purchase and play when I can afford it*
Shadow of Tomb Raider
Resident Evil 2 (The new remake on Steam)
FarCry New Dawn (Probably get)
FarCry Primal
Metro Exodus (Maybe get)
Dirt Rally 2.0 (Possibly get)
Escape from Tarkov
New Batman game in the works by Rocksteady for sure

I may not have too much installed but only what I enjoy playing from time to time and I hope you can help me build a perfect set up.

I would also say , try to go for the 1070 TI - most places carry it for the same price as you listed the 1060 for...... sometimes lower with sales or rebates/ coupons.

I do want the z390. I heard rumors that the Asus Rog has bloatware in bios that needs to be disabled and not installed. Gotta find that article somewhere. Wish this motherboard has a bios flashback. I hate doing bios the old fashioned way. My current Sabertooth z77 has a bios flashback button and I love it!
I don't know what is a great monitor to get. I never tried the Display port or whatever. Always used to DVI-D Dual Link for the 60hz monitor I currently have. I cannot get a monitor right now cuz I am on a tight budget but if you can direct me to a good PC gaming monitor I am all for it. For the time being this is my monitor.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014299  BenQ GW2450 I had this monitor since March of 2014. Running Dual Link right now since it doesn't support Display port or anything else.  I have no idea if my build is great. I have no choice but order parts at Best Buy. My aunt wants me to order but I keep bugging her that Micro Center is better but at least Best Buy price matches things lol.
What you guys think? Ignore the budget at the moment because I already own the 10606gb SSC and and NZXT H700i including the Corsair H100iv2 cooler and seagate SSHD 1TB. I have to get the SSD later but I will currently use my old build such as the SSD which is a Samsung 820 256gb at the moment til I can afford a new one.I already have the processor I purchased from Best Buy. Windows 10 on my current build so basically the whole thing will be cheap. Ignore the keyboard, mouse, headphone crap. I just wanted to see how much wattage it has. btw I decided to switch to z370 or maybe z390 undecided at the moment. Is it a good idea to go Dual Channel instead of quad channel?  I will NOT be doing overclocking though. Cuz I had enough of worrying about how to learn how to learn to do voltage tuning.  My Aunt is bugging me to get the build done with and I wanted to get parts at Micro Center but I got bills so we have to resort to Best Buy purchases. Credit Card is the only option. I could use some advice how to get a perfect build. I am good at making companies honor price matches :D hehe! I am okay with 60hz but I do want a 120hz monitor so I can have 100fps in some certain games. I need honest PC gamer advice here! Please help!  I really need to replace those thermal pads on my 1060 6gb. I already re-applied thermal paste on my gpu processor though. Tempted to get a new video card. Post away my friends!

Re: New build advice needed! 2019/01/19 06:50:50 (permalink)
Also I need to understand what size SSD memory card I need for those motherboards? I understand it has 2 of them? I thought of getting this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-970-evo-250gb-internal-pci-express-3-0-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-for-laptops-with-v-nand-technology/6228210.p?skuId=6228210

I need two of them but I notice the other size is different so I assume I need a bigger size? I just don't wanna bottleneck anything since I am planning this carefully. I want a smooth gaming experience and top nitch performance. I am still gonna have to rock the 1060 6gb til I figure out who I can sell it to unless i DECIDE to keep it. ADVICE?

I have been noticing all of my games render late in the game.

What game? Is your game on a SSD? Or a sloooooow hard drive?

Do you mean your textures load way after the game starts?

Gaming on a 1080 monitor? @ 60hz?
Keep what you have.

Going to go 2k or up?
Get something better, and not so 'low end' (sorry, not being mean) like the 1070 video card and Evo ssd.

I got a 9700k, 32gb memory, 2080 AMP edition (when they FIRST came out, pre-ordered the machine), an ssd, a 4tb hdd, and a 750w psu, with win10, a glass case (actually pretty nice case, and I dont like 'bling', lights, or glass/plastic that reflects light onto my while I am using the computer, since it sits right next to me at eye level to my right on my desk), with RGB EVERYTHING, water cooled cpu, wires tied VERY nice (VERY good cabling job) etc etc etc, all put together and running sweet, back in Nov, for $2100, from ABS at Newegg.
It has quality parts, it works great, it was cheaper than me putting together my own system, and it runs at 2560x1440 @144hz. It still hitched in new games, and I could not run them well at all Ultra settings.
BUT, if I would have gotten the 2080TI, or like I ended up doing getting another 2080 for SLI, everything games at ULTRA settings with NO hickups or hitching.

So, yeah, I already had my IPS 144hz monitor, and I am from the beginning of pc gaming, where 60hz was NEVER good enough to game at, I can tell up to about 100hz (REAL fps, not doubled frames, and I can ALSO detect doubled frames), so I NEEDED a system that could game at 144hz and 2560x1440.

If all you have ever gamed at is 60hz and 1080 is your max resolution, then you can game anything at 60hz and never have an issue. If you go UP to 100hz or 120hz or 144hz, you WILL have issues, getting used to the speed, the ui (you will have to mess with FOV in EVERYTHING until you get it right, or you may get headaches or nausea (an old friend did this, he moved from 1080p/60hz to 21:9/100hz, and he STILL has issues getting used to it. But, when he went down to 60hz, he feels fine).

If you are going from like a 24 inch or lower 1080 monitor, to a, say, 37 inch monitor, you might want to go with the more powerful 1080 (or like someone said, 1070ti which is = to 1080 non-ti).

So, yeah, going 1080p/60hz, you dont really need a monster rig to play games, just a low end to mid range computer will do you fine. (unless you are playing on a 180 foot tv, lol).
