GeForce Hotfix display driver version 425.11 is based on our latest Game Ready Driver 419.67 (R418 release).  This Hotfix driver addresses the following:
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands: Game crashes when accessing the inventory menu
  • Ark Survival Evolved: Fixes random crashes on GeForce RTX 20 series GPUs
  • Fixes corrupted graphics in games on ASUS ROG Strix GL702VS notebooks introduced in driver 419.35

    OMG...too many drivers...too little time.

Seriously NVIDIA...you need to fire your driver department head and replace him with somebody who knows how to run a software development and test team.

Wouldn't it be nice if NVIDIA had every PC configuration known to man ready at their disposal. Well I'm sure NVIDIA does automated and manual testing but you can't catch everything. I do software/hardware testing for a living and you simply can't catch every single bug. If you do find something strange then you document it and have it fixed by a developer.

Again - I do not support the "you can't catch everything" philosophy for software development.  If my company supported this philosophy, you personally would be impacted.

I also hear the same thing from hardware guys: "There are so many chips on the board, you can't possibly get it correct with only 1 board spin."

It is entirely possible for hardware, firmware, and software...first you need leadership to stop making excuses.  Next, you need to stop being a victim.  Finally, you need to challenge your engineers to think outside of the box (a very difficult thing for most engineers to do) to accomplish this.

Sounds like you have much to learn in the industry. Let's take Microsoft. They have hundreds of automated machine testing processes; more than any other company. They also have numerous Windows insider testers. Despite this bugs are still found in the O/S. Microsoft is very quick about fixing them. Nothing is perfect but you strive during development and testing to be as close to perfect as possible.

No...I am not new at this...I have been doing this for quite some time.  Just because everybody does it one way, does not make it correct.

You are correct in stating that you strive to be as close to perfect as possible during development and testing.  Taking the attitude that "it can't be done" is mutually exclusive with this.

Best answer yet.  It's better said:

Done Right, On Time, On Budget --> Give me the resources I need to achieve all 3, and don't change your mind halfway through that you want something else.

Need a .bat file that will boot into safe mode and use DDU and reboot and install the latest drivers automatically for all these quick updates!

DDU does that for you.  Open DDU....go to options...advance options and check enable safe mode dialog.  Close DDU and reopen...then you can boot into safe mode and uninstall drivers...there are options there as well...choose reboot after uninstall to reinstall new drivers and you are good to go.

We know. I'm talking about double click on a file and windows boots into safe mode and runs DDU for me without going threw all the menus.. like hold soft while hitting reboot to get to the secret menu and select restart options.. reboot and hit 4 for safe mode before its too late and it boots into windows.

DDU used to go into safe mode for you if selected.. that's not worked in a long time for me.

Idk, software engineering practices aside I am weary of having to install a driver roughly every 14 days that improves the performance of some games and annihilates the reliability of others. On the topic of software engineering and how it's relevant to PC gaming being an utter disaster in every conceivable way these days: it is totally and unequivocally clear that Nvidia and Microsoft use the consumer as a guinea pig to participate in what one might token as a "perpetual beta". If they practice continuous integration and automated testing it absolutely is not being done well since the deliverables are consistently sub-par and packed with severe defects. Between Windows 10 (1809+) and Nvidia drivers I cannot consistently enjoy the recent games I paid money for. They simply do not work.

    It just does not work.

With that said, everything comes in ups and downs- including PC gaming. And yes drivers and operating systems are incredibly complex. I've heard that before (official representatives from each company like to spin it that way)- nonetheless I begrudgingly agree. I'm sure Nvidia will have a legit offering of Turing-based graphics cards sometime next year, and Microsoft will also have given Windows 10 some love as it seems like the B team has been working on the OS for too long. My gripe is that I wouldn't have bought all new hardware to construct a decent rig had I known it would just not work.
