Hello,
I recently loaded up
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction for the nostalgia of revisiting one of my cherished favorites, as well as to prevent my accounts/characters from expiring--of course!
Ultimately ... that's about all I accomplish. Unless I have the stroke of luck to log-in simultaneously with someone from my /f-list roster for Uber-Runs ...
Another game, which is great for multiplayer
--different dynamic than Diablo's PvP mechanic--was
Nox. Similar to Diablo's dungeon-crawler except with light-hearted pop-culture humor and better multiplayer functionality; in that,
mini-quests /
battle-arena modes are featured -- whereas Diablo's multiplayer revolved 100% around its concurrent campaign (Stone of Jordan's, anyone?)
Apart from where the genre headed as a whole, with newer titles like
Champions of Norrath,
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing,
Divinity,
Torchlight, and the obvious (which I will not discuss--period)
Diablo III, does anyone know of any worthwhile titles that exist in the Action-Adventure Dungeon-Crawler Genre?
Great also are the
Baldur's Gate franchise of game's, however -- much like the refined 3-D aspects of
RuneScape / Gothic / NeverWinter Nights -- these are different completely, in that the dynamic is heavily
RPG-
orientated as oppose to the groundbreaking (imo) mechanic that is BlizzardNorth's Diablo hack-n slash adventure hybrid.
Thusly, the only games I can think would be:
- Nox
- Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
- Diablo
- Diablo: Hellfire
- Diablo II
- Diablo II: Lord of Destruction
Anyone know of any other titles which play similarly to these caliber games?
Thanks.
*EDIT*
i.e.: Newer games comparison;
Dark Souls vs
Dragon Age (Diablo vs. Baldur's Gate) ... there's a difference.
...
similar ... but different.
