CORSAIR today announced compatibility with the Microsoft Xbox One for CORSAIR wired and wireless keyboards and mice, following Microsoft's recent announcement of expanded peripheral support for the console. Now, players can take advantage of CORSAIR's award-winning gaming peripherals to play keyboard and mouse-enabled games on a whole new platform-Xbox One. With the console's new compatibility with keyboards and mice, developers can now choose to add support for those devices to their games. I have always liked Corsair products and this is yet another reason to like their products.

I don't understand "creating new keyboards".  Why not just bind the windows key to the dashboard button?  That makes the most sense.

Look for Sony to add more support, and also coerce developers into adding it to games.
I have always thought, give the players what they want be it controller, or mouse and keyboard.

Have a friend with only a thumb on his right hand... could not play console games with a controller.
But was sick with a mouse.. he could dominate games on pc.

What are you assuming? Does the typical console user know how "bind" keys? They've had a controller that's been to-the-point, it's the whole reason they aren't on PC because they don't want to fuss around.

If you want a sale from someone that's a bit stubborn and sees our hobby as an inconvenience, you don't expect them to figure it out, they'll just move on to another business that adjusts to them first. Hence 'creating new keyboard'.

Each company will have a marketing department that needs to know what sells to continue investment in that product line. If, as you say, an existing keyboard was given automatic compatibility across platforms, they can't tell who's buying it for what. That's why a separate product is being made, to tell if it's worth pursuing or not.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

    This is a big deal.
I want to play more games with my real life friends and brother, but man sometimes the controller takes me out of the game.

I would figure that in some games a keyboard and mouse would be an unfair advantage in a shooter. I wonder how it will change console gaming if someone is able to snipe with an on the fly adjustable DPI mouse. That said I kind of feel the limitations of the hardware might take away a lot of the joy in using a mouse and keyboard. I probably would notice the frame rate a lot more when things are not as smooth as my desktop but I am using a mouse and keyboard.

I've actually been using https://xim.tech/ for many years. It works on both Xbox/PS and I've been doing it for all my shooters. My friends wont play PC because "The controls feel weird and are hard to learn".... So instead I play "on their level" but use my mouse/keyboard and they say it's completely unfair.

tl;dr - XIM has done this for years with smart translation.

    Edit: Mine looks like this

Other side has another USB for the Controller and MicroUSB to USB to plug into the console
