Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right section to post this, but I am having a bit of trouble figuring out why my system is limited to 60 FPS. I know this might sound simple, but I checked nVidia control panel and turned off v-sync, but every time I reboot or shutdown the system it defaults to 60 FPS. I also made sure the monitor is set to 144 Hz and I am using a DP 1.4 cable. I have to use nVidia Profile Inspector to turn off the FPS limiter after every boot, does anyone know why this is happening?

Many thanks!

P.S. My monitor is a Dell S2716DG, 2560x1440p @ 144 Hz. See screenshots attached.

What game?

Why does it matter? Some games, like Fallout 4, are engine locked to 60. Others like Fallout 76 are (now) locked to 62.

Uninstall your monitor from device manager, reset the global profile and reboot.

See if that helps. Keep in mind you're going to loose all global settings, per game settings should be kept.

If not, I would run DDU and reinstall a previous driver version you know works or the latest version.

In Nvidia Inspector try turn off Frames Limiter and hit apply twice then close. Try test....

So on each reboot the frame rate limiter option inside the nvidia profile inspector is set back to 60.7 fps, and you have to set it to off on each boot? If yes, then it sounds like another program running in the background is setting a 60 fps limit.

Yup, that's exactly what is going on. Now what background program...?

Rivatuner, EVGA's precision, MSI's afterburner - along those lines.

Delete any leftover Precision XOC (if that's what you were using) files and folders located in the Program Files (x86)\EVGA folder and restart your PC if you have not already done so..Framerate Target (Max FPS) can get stickied to the NVIDIA Graphics Driver and cause an FPS limit.

Thanks! I just went in to Precision and turned the frame rate target off.

Oh, I thought you had uninstalled Precision..Don't know what made me think that.

But yeah, if you ever uninstall Precision you should delete the leftovers because they can cause problems sometimes..Wish the uninstaller had the option to do that like MSI Afterburner does.
