$1149.99  NVIDIA priced them self's out of my range  for a 2080ti . if game play was worth $1149.99 per card I would give up my 770 hydros . My guess is UN tell games come with the extra **** a 2080ti has , I still have no reason to upgrade . I will never spend like I did for Big Adv<<< Servers . Folding now is hay I got time or cash . I am thinking with still getting 70 fps on my 770 hydros no reason to upgrade . Have fun every one with what ever you do ,Fold on

For gaming, I can always use more power. But my CPU hurts more on that front. Laggy game engines just kill my fps these days with SLI no longer working. That uplift in folding almost tempts me to upgrade, but I think a new 12 core cpu comes first this time round. My 1080Tis can cope just fine for now. Still, I like reading up on the stats of the new stuff. Thanks for the data.

if you are CPU bound on games more cores will not help you. you need a CPU with higher single thread performance due to the games poor multi threading capabilities.

The 12 core upcoming has a faster base and boost clock than my current CPU. Other tasks are also always running in the background. Plex being the main one for my OTA tuner. The follow in effects for transcoding are also a consideration. I plan to just oc the whole cpu to 4.7Ghz all core. A much improved experience, especially if I get back into civ 6.

Yea a few of us invested a good amount those folding rigs back then. I will not toss money like that again either, not that I can afford to anyway.

The reason I ordered the 2080 TI FTW3 because I was planning on building all brand new. After I ordered it I purchased the water cooled machine for a fraction of what the guy paid to make it. Its kinda like a machine you would want but would never foot the bill for. It is an I7 7700k CPU with 32 gb ram, but I think that's sufficient for now.

When the kid built it did did several things wrong. No quick disconnects and no way to drain the system. so eventually i'll have to read up on water cooling and change a bunch out.

OK confirmation of ~ 2 Million PPD --- second card answers that question

the small drop on 10.14 = the down time to benchmark new card solo & NVLink, before Folding with both  EVGA 2080Ti - no NVLink

    before -------EVGA 2080 Ti =  ~ 7.5 M PPD   (Baseline PPD) - across 6 GPU on 3 PC

    added first -- EVGA 2080 Ti =  ~ 9.7 M PPD  (Base +2.2 M PPD) - across 7 GPU on 4 PC

    added second EVGA 2080 Ti = ~11.9 M PPD  (Base +4.4 M PPD) - across 8 GPU on 4 PC

@arcDaniel  On Air or Under Water?
If Water did you run any tasks before putting the card under water?
If so what temps on are were you seeing?
Even under water 45C seems a little high at this time of the year.
For Folding why do you set the Memory to 1000?
Maybe to move over and stay on our team, TZC 2018 is coming up.

I put the card directly under Water, so I can't tell temps on air.

That Profile is my general OC Profile. For 24/7 normaly I set everything to minimum. Here I get only a power consummation about 100W for the GPU (total +/-170W from the wall) and make 1,2Mio PPD

Here the WU 11730 is the best I saw until now :-)

This is insane.  I could almost sell all 3 of my cards and equal what I would be currently getting while folding, with just 1 card.

    WU 11730 =  2.2 - 2.5 Million PPD per EVGA 2080 Ti & I'm still on air

    Heavy loaded (Folding) for days.....  ΔT = ~ 40C  .... (Delta T of ~ 40C = ~ 40C Over room temp)

that is with Exceptional airflow through the case - as the sides are off of the case with auxiliary fan moving most of the heat away from GPU cooler fans

Closed case will probably be warmer ---> even with "good airflow" as some heat will get recycled back to the GPU cooler

Well mine just came in, been playing a some games a few benchmarks and Folding of course.  Have to give my 2 rigs some run time after moving everything around but I am looking at right around 5 million PPD on the rigs.
