In terms of buying from EVGA Europe, you can either pay through your paypal account and it shows their conversion rate of EUR to GBP, or you can pay direct via debit card. If I choose debit card it does not show me the conversion rate so I do not know which works out cheaper. Is one method typically cheaper than the other? I'm with Santander.

That really can depend upon your bank's exchange rates for the day of purchase. I always prefer PayPal because of the protection they offer for my purchase. When you start using PayPal the exchange rate is shown sometime during the PayPal checkout phase.
