Currently there isn't any evga x299 with usb type-c headers, however the z370 classy does. Does anyone know if they are going to release a Mobo with a usb-c header. Would be nice to have a high speed connection in the front instead of moving my entire machine to get to the back, and disconnect my device there.

Isn't that up to the case manufacturer? Doesn't the front panel header just plug into the USB 3.* and then the case front header PCB just has the different USB ports on it?

As far as the back IO yes the X299's do have a type-c

Hello,

As of now almost all of our current motherboards do come with a type-c port all X299 models, Z370 Classified K and Z370 FTW. The only two current motherboards from EVGA that do not have the type-c port are the H370 stinger and the Z370 micro. The micro only having only 2.0 and 3.0 USB's and the stinger with 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 USB's.

As of now there are no others plans from EVGA, if you have any other questions you can call EVGA Customer Support Line 1 (888) 880-3842 or Email Support@EVGA.com .

Thank you,

It is but I utilize my back is usb type c already. My case has a front header and it would be nice to be able to use it also for when I backup large files like pictures and videos to my PC.

Thank you for the reply, however I think there was miscommunication. I am asking about a header, not about the the back io. As far as I can tell the only one with a USB 3.1 type c header is the z370 classy. I realize that usb type c on the case is just getting traction, but would nice on a future board like a x299 classy or x299 ftw2.

I think the misconception is stemming from the way you are stating it. What you are asking for is an front panel USB 3.1 header to support the higher current draw and speeds.

This is taken out of the X299 Dark PDF

22. USB 3.0 Headers
The USB3.0 headers are used to connect additional USB interface plugs to the motherboard; these headers are most often used to connect the motherboard to the chassis to enable the USB3.0 ports on the chassis. These will function the same as the USB3 ports found on the motherboard’s hardwired I/O hub, but these can be used to attach to front panel USB, auxiliary ports that mount in the card slots, and also some devices that directly connect to the header.
USB 3.0 standard available current is 900mA @ 5V for unpowered devices. If your USB device requires more power than this, it is recommended to attach a powered USB Hub.
USB 3.1 Type-A (found on the I/O Hub) shares the power limit of USB 3.0 at 900mA @ 5V. Whereas USB 3.1 Type-C (also found on the IO Hub) has a power limit of 3000mA (3A) @ 5V. USB 3.1 on the X299 Dark does not support USB PD protocol.

What you are asking is for them to either add in or convert the existing USB 3.0 to 3.1.
The issue is now they would have to have board traces that safely carry up to .9a (900ma) and beef them up to carry 3a. It all comes down to board space for said traces and the added heat along those paths. Look at how hot your adapter in your vehicle gets (yea, it is converting dirty 12v power to 5v).

This is taken from your Z370 Classy:

27. USB 3.1 Header
The USB 3.1 header is used to connect additional USB interface plugs to the
motherboard; these headers are most often used to connect the motherboard
to the chassis to enable the USB3.1 ports on the chassis. These will function similarly to the USB3.1 Type-C port found on the motherboard’s rear I/O hub, but can also be used for the chassis’ front panel USB, auxiliary ports that mount in the card slots, and certain devices that directly connect to the header.
The USB 3.1 Header on the Z370 Classified K is a shielded USB 3.1 Header
and supports up to 10Gb/s with USB3.1 Gen2.
This USB 3.1 Header has a power limit of 3000ma (3A) @ 5V.

Look at how they have positioned the #27 USB 3.1 pretty close to the 24pin header on the Z370 Classy

The OP is looking for a USB 3.1 Motherboard Header or USB Type-C Header on the X299 Platform.

What case are you using?
Just curious as to weather the case manufacturer is actually calling it an USB 3.1
I did a google search for add in cards like this - https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB-PCIE-Card-USB/dp/B01I39D15A
There are plenty of hits but they all report having an internal 3.0 header

I'm using the Corsair 500D (if you search just 500d you will get cannon dslr cameras). It supports 2 usb 3.1 on the normal 3.1 connection and one type c with the newer connection that as you pointed out is normally near the 24 pin.

I wasn't demanding anything just asking. My wife constantly takes pictures, and I am putting Visio and AutoCAD diagrams on usb, the files are huge and take time to transfer. It is more of a convenience I admit. However I have the case to support it but lack the Mobo to do so. It just feels like I have a option that I am not exploiting.

The other option is to see how z390 is and sell the x299 (as I only need 16 lanes anyways). Was just hoping not to do a full chipset move

Edit: forgot to thank you for your help, it is appreciated. Just trying to bring the full capabilities of all my equipment so it can be utilized.

Can someone from EVGA chime in and leak a little tidbit about the X299 Micro 2 - usb 3.1 header perhaps?

It has a USB 3.1 Gen.1 (aka USB 3.0) header, but no USB 3.1 Gen.2 header.
