According to Manuel over on the NV forums, the watchdog error violation is not fixed. It's been clearly brought to their attention many times. (I know we can easily work around it.) Maybe I miss something but that sounds semi contrary. How can they fix an error they say they can't reproduce, (AIDA)? See below copy paste, 2 seperate recent posts: Post: What's the situation with known issue "DPC watchdog violation error"? Will it be fixed?Manuel's answer: Yes. Target is the next driver.----------------------------------------- Post: Did you fix Aida yet ?Manuel's answer: We have not been able to reproduce this https://forums.geforce.co...ad-released-6-5-18-/2/

So has anyone with a 1080Ti SLI tried to install these, and if so, were there still the black screen problems I read about in the earlier driver releases? I am still on 391.35 which I have no issues with, but I don't like falling too far behind, especially since only the later drivers seem to be designed for Windows 10 1803. Thanks!

It's has been a smoother transition with these drivers on Windows build 1803. So far no black screens.

Hi Guys & Gals I really don't understand why so many of U are So Anxious to load new drivers. With all the problems with there drivers and every new version becomes more invasive with spyware & software that U really Don't want or need. Just the drivers please nvidia. I know what you're thinking who is this bozo anyway. He's probably running win98, maybe xp plays solitaire, purble place, occasionally wordpad doc. Oh contra mi amigo's I build & config systems use adobe software suite manely photoshop.Build Blu-Ray & DVD movies and play games.Namely Watch Dogs Watch Dogs 2, PayDay2, Mad Max, DOOM 3 BFG Edition, Pinball FX2,Pinball FX3,The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt, Batman Arkham,s ALL,Wolfenstein All + Wolfenstein II The New Colossus,Assassin's Creed Origins, Etc to name a few.Never had a driver problem or ask for update. Today I'am running win 10 v390.65 and the only reason I have that version is earlier this year I built a new system for a friend and put on the latest version so I updated mine. Before that I believe I was running v340 or v360. That's Just My Opinion I Could Be Wrong

Welcome GoinBroke. Opinions are good. I know what you mean. Academically there is not always the reason, or any reason to upgrade each and every GPU driver. But, I still do, can't help it, can't explain it. I'll put it down to wanting to always have the lastest and greatest. N:B: Greatest is hit or miss. Sometimes worse! But still can't stop. Edit: By definition opinions can never really be wrong. But it will soon be pointed out. Some smart guys here. If develops into a disagreement, then it all changes, we move to fact, and should back it up. IMHO - The worst thing anyone can do is state their opinion as fact! As you did, just a quick IMO after is fine. Pet peeve maybe, but it really annoys me. The good point is here is a good forum to learn all sorts of stuff. But just be thick skinned, the most expert guys are rather blunt. (IMO ) Edit: Missed it before, but your signature is the best I've ever seen on a forum like this!!

in all cases of a driver update, i've done so because it offered something i was needing, 388 introduced compression for opengl shader compilation, 397 fixed firefox tdr's and gtav light shafts, a coming driver will optimise gsync's cpu overhead slightly.

I don't use fire firefox, but the new drivers do often introduce something needed. I think what makes people mad at the NV forums is the overall quality will not improve, and well over half of the complaints there are ridiculous, too easy to blame the driver. I mentioned before, but in the sythetic world of benchmarks (I use all the 3DM paid for and out of habit run and always record results for each new driver) over a year there has been no improvement in score at all. That doesn't surprise me, but too many people expect a new driver will be almost like a new GPU! (Again, I am talking about posters on the NV drivers forum, where a man called Sora makes valiant efforts to set people right, but he is very outnumbered lol.) Thanks for the info about g-sync. I always use it and any improvements in any way are welcome. Still it works very well as it is in games. A shame NV doesn't educate their users now a days. For example, in many but not all cases V-Sync should be on in the NV CP and off in game. V-Sync serves one purpose (that I know of) in this scenario, and that is it does nothing at all unless fps go above refresh, in my case I set to 120fps 1440p on 144Hz monitor. Never any tearing. NV are sometimes their own worst enemy. I think a lot of people get frustrated with G-Sync because it seems counter intuitive to run V-Sync from the CP. NV explained this years ago in the early days of g-sync but I never see anything about it now. Users may end up getting tearing, or fps over 1000fps with a good card. Tried it for laughs once, then one Change in CP only and the fps stay stable at monitor refresh (or 1 frame below which I set if it's worth it for said game.) I'll have my binned delidded 5.2GHz i78700k from silicon lottery on a new system up and running soon. Trying not to get too excited! Been working on it slowly, like I started over a month ago, but don't want to buy any components that are not the best. Hence my Hyper carefulness. It will be the 5th PC I've made. Usually I do it over 2 days. This one will be closer to 2 months! Oh, sorry, off topic there.
