I just got the $10 splitter for PSU connection issue. The prices and availability is about to move me to the lower end brands (MSI, Zotac) as they come available :(

However that doesn't apply to all models. On the EVGA USA shop there are some models as low as $869 when they are in stock. EVGA is not driving the price upwards. Pricing of GDDR memory and semiconductors are going up.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

It fell a little bit. You can get SC Black Edition for $919, with clock just 13mhz short of the top model. I'll keep waiting and hoping. :)

If I can get it for the same price as an EVGA card, I'm going with an Asus ROG Strix for my next GPU.

Pretty sickening that EVGA's official prices haven't gone back down to sane levels yet on 1080 Tis and 1070 Tis. These prices do not correspond to increases in memory fabrication costs at all. That would account for $20-30 at the top end.

The only reason I ended up getting an EVGA GTX 1080 SC is because last Friday it popped up shipped from and sold by Amazon.com for $599.

If you keep an eye out Amazon often stocks zotacs 1080ti amp at 739-759. Every now and then an msi at 769 They tend to sell out pretty quick. Interesting the supposed memory price hike doesn't seem to affect all aibs. If it's true that the massive price increase evga has added is all ram then they must have the worst contract price negotiator in the sector.

I was going to purchase a new video card to replace a 980 on my I7-7700 rig but why should I pay ~ $1000 for a new card? Mine is still good enough for most games anyway. But, for the first time I am actually going to buy my first video game console instead. I can get an Xbox One X for $500 which is half the price of the better video cards now. Why should anyone be a part of the computer arms race anymore when it is so expensive these days? Hmmmm........should someone invest ~ $2000 on a decent PC or $230 to $500 on an X Box or PS 4? Computer component companies will end up suffering if these price extremes continue. RIP   :o(

meanwhile newegg had a flash sale yesterday on msi 1080 blower card for $500 flat shipped. that's within 10 dollars of black friday 2017

The cards that I see in stock there do not seem to indicate any "foul play" by EVGA. It's unfortunate that the prices have not fallen in a consistent pattern. I'm sure that some sites have had limited stock at closer-to-MSRP but, as of yet, the prices still seem to be quite high across all AIB manufacturers. It's not just EVGA (and I totally agree that these prices are insane).

It wasn't just EVGA, they all raised the prices way too high. The prices have come down but not enough to get me to make a purchase. IMO they need to lower the prices to the original retail now and unload the remaining stock. Once the next gen is released, these cards will be a much harder sell.

Just like gasoline prices, they never go down as fast as they go up. EVGA's current inventory and perhaps even some product still to arrive is at increased cost from Nvidia. I'm not trying to excuse prices, but just to make an observation of what we've seen happen historically.

Maybe your right but we can't know for sure if Nvidia is charging more. All of that is mute though. There is a lot more cards in the wild for sell now. EVGA and everyone else may be forced to lower prices even more to unload them.

Well sure. As supply becomes less constrained, the prices will fall. That's how it goes.

All we can hope is these vendors get stuck with overpriced inventory they have to sell for a loss once the new 11xx and used 10xx inventory flood the market. I for one won't be buying a card anytime soon out of pure spite.

Absolutely excellent information came out today about the future of graphics cards. If you keep up on what's going on with memory and some of the things that have led to the shortage and pricing this article is going to be like a dream come true.

Shares of Apple Inc dropped nearly 2 percent on Tuesday as investors worries intensified about soft demand for iPhones after a warning from a company that supplies components for smartphones. South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix Inc said following its quarterly report that it expected smartphone demand to stagnate, echoing a similar warning last week from Apple supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd. Concerns ahead of Apple's quarterly report next Tuesday have shaved 9 percent from its stock price in the past five sessions, erasing $80 billion of its stock market value.

Unfortunately the reality is that GPU memory pricing (cost) has increased significantly, causing the price to have to change due to the cost.

No that's what you tell the sheep. Anyone with basic business knowledge knows you dont pay retail costs for memory. You took a 700 dollar card and marked it up to 1100 dollars after the bit miners started destroying excess stock. If the cost to make the cards was that excessive Nvidia would have raised the price on their 1080ti from the 699 it is on their website. What you are doing is called price gouging. Sadly you are a private company not publicly traded or I would pull your balance sheet for the past 9 months since the crypto crap stated and show just how much excess money you have made off this crap. Sorry but next time you want to BS people try to do it a little better.

It's likely a combination of both supply and demand and rising costs of parts.

Either way, it sucks. I'm trying to get enough together to make a new machine (tho I'm waiting for Threadripper 2..so I am ok for now)..the costs for just the GPU are making me sad.

I just paid $1050 for an SC2 Hybrid, came with a free powerlink, which was nice. It was cheaper to buy direct from EVGA but I learned they have an office in FL, so with tax and shipping(come on EVGA, free shipping would be nice on a $1k card) it came out more than B&H had it for. I was hoping that they would drop prices since they've had a pretty consistent stock for a few weeks now but nope.

The market sucks right now.  High demands as well as increases in cost for components do lead to a higher cost for the cards.  Yes, even EVGA has increased the cost of their cards; however it is not as bad as many other retailers out there.  I hate the costs as much as the every one else, however it is what it is.  EVGA still sells their cards cheaper than most other retailers on the market and for that I give them props.

Re: EVGA is boosting prices too now? 2018/04/26 01:16:30 (permalink)
I'm a bit sad actually now after checking, because I bought a 1070 Ti ultra silent 2 weeks ago, and yesterday I noticed the price has dropped 100 euros since I bought it. I had to RMA my first product, so I can't even return the card to the shop I purchased from, even though this shop had a 30 day return period since the GPU S/N doesn't match my invoice anymore.

My only savior would be a step-up but all other cards have remained exponentially high prices, only the 1070 Ti's have dropped drastically, so RIP me! Just hoping the 1080 Ti will come down to original (or close to) MSRP before my step-up period is over and I'll go for that when I can. Fingers crossed...

With that being said, right now there are a few ways to save some money on a new card purchase:

  • Become an ELITE member (its free) www.evga.com/elite - We are giving discounts on new card purchases for ELITE members.
  • Check out EVGA DIY (www.evga.com/diy) if you are in the market for a complete system build, you can get a pretty significant savings on the entire build.

Thanks, with all participation here, at least my trusty old EVGA GTX 660 Ti FTW Signature 2 still works like the day it was new

The 1080ti FTW3 was available to "preorder" for 839€(with taxes) at Caseking Germany for 4 or 5 days, it will arrive arround May 16th.
It seems that the prices will indeed go down during the next weeks.
