Tuxedo.
The 1080ti FTW3 was available to "preorder" for 839€(with taxes) at Caseking Germany for 4 or 5 days, it will arrive arround May 16th.
It seems that the prices will indeed go down during the next weeks.
EVGA has begun lowering the prices of all of their cards accept the 1080ti's. It's my guess that they will try and hold on to the scalper prices as long as possible. In fact the major retailers will probably start lowering prices before they do.

Some of the 1080 TI's look like they have dropped a little. I've been wanting a Hybrid but I can't willingly allow someone to crook me.

board partners are talking about a massive drop in demand. was looking at put options on nvidia for may exp after they report earnings and the premiums are massive. a lot of traders are expecting a miss. supply has been down and now demand is dropping. on the GPU side of things it's the worst of everything

I really do hope this is a case. I keep eyeing 1080 ti on evga's store because it's by far the cheapest option with included warranty. But it's still way over priced and I don't even know if I want to purchase it at MSRP prices without some form of promotion deal.

For mining - it’s been impossible to recoup cost of a 1080 ti over any reasonable length of time since about Jan... profitability calculator through nicehash puts it about ~$47/month.... even a very optimized custom bios flashed Linux system won’t add you at more than perhaps 20% of that.

You take away mining demand and the market comes into balance VERY quickly. Also, Titan V now takes the place of 3-4 1080 ti cards for pure math / deep learning.

Everyone knew this day was coming.... and had to come.

I used to mine. Now I compute.

Yes finally!! Very happy! But... now there are no step-up options available at all (yesterday I had all options I check everyday). Hoping that's just because they're working on it right now.. :D

As far as graphics memory prices go, there are presently about three manufacturers participating in monopolistic competition -- more specifically, they are an economic oligarchy. They each don't get to charge the highest prices, but they collude with each other to set the prices above market equilibrium -- in other words, in what an otherwise lower free market price would be if there were no artificial price levels set by the colluding companies.

Another reason for the high prices -- GDDR6 memory may be instituted in the upcoming version of the new "Turing" cards...

Nice to see 1080 Tis begin the journey back down to sane pricing. They're still deep into scalping territory, but progress is progress. I've got 71 days left on my Step-up, and I'm just hoping the Step-up 1080 Ti hits $800 before my time runs out so I can upgrade for under $200.
