once delidded what needs to be done after, meaning what is used to interface between the chip and the cooling block?

Never had to delid before.

When you delid a cpu you normally just reuse the ihs after swapping the thermal paste out with something better.

I just did my 8700k using the rockit88 kit. I used Liquid metal Pro and their aftermarket IHS. Between the IHS and Die I used the liquid metal and between the AIO and IHS I used THermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Hell if you wanted I'd loan the tools out to you. No charge you just pay shipping both ways and pay a deposit and have it back within 2 weeks. You'd still need your thermal paste and liquid metal.

Good info on Gamers Nexus on youtube.

I myself did not reseal my IHS to the cpu so the clamp on the motherboard holds the IHS to the cpu die.

Yeah use some mx4 or something and just relid..massive temp drop like 10-15 degrees....that tim they use is not very good.
It will sit there and stay in the 60-70c a lot more.

It sucks that Intel uses such crappy TIM, but it's cool to see people ripping off IHS's like it's going out of style.

Reminds me of the golden years of overclocking when I'd do all sorts of crazy stuff to my hardware, lol.

Best to watch a few videos on YouTube about delidding, use the right tools and take your time, then enjoy a 20c drop in temps.
