Apple Is Secretly Developing Its Own Screens for the First Time

Apple engineers its own CPUs and other companies build it but it looks like Apple is investing its time and engineers towards new screen technologies which will be put inside new Apple products. While this sounds good for Apple the technology they are investing in could become obsolete  in a few years time. Companies like Samsung could develop something better.

    I'm shocked Samsung didn't patent MicroLED considering it's their response to OLED and is in that huge 146" screen known as The Wall.
     
    Edit: Apple apparently acquired MicroLED shop LuxVue in 2014.

    I am not surprised Apple would be doing this but keep in mind a lot of what Apple does we never see at retail. People have been talking about an Apple TV for the last decade it seems.

    The tech was first invented in 2000 by the research group of Hongxing Jiang and Jingyu Lin of Texas Tech University while they were at Kansas State University.

    It’s always good for a company to attemp to expand what it is they can do. While Apple may develop a screen they will only be playing catch-up with LG and Samsung.
