I have the 1080 Ti FTW3 elite 6797 with 12 GHZ memory and wanted a second to SLI, I did get a regular 1080 Ti FTW3 elite 6696 should I use that to SLI or just keep the single card.

If the games you're playing support sli I'd go for it.

I have an Asus ROG PG279Q and have the card so might as well use it, I'll just loose the 12GHZ memory to the slower speed.

if you're on 4k then definitely, playing on ultra settings 4k with constant 60fps is incredible. I've tried shadow of war, rise of tomb raider and the division so far and they're gorgeous and smooth in sli.

Place the Faster card in slot 1 as the second card is not utilized as well the RAM speed will make no discernible difference unless your benchmarking or chasing other world records

I've never really given much thought to an SLI setup. I tried it years ago, and it wasn't all that great. Granted, it seems like support for it has come a long way since then.

Nvidia has changed the rules - GPUs must match & now the software vendor must make the code for SLI to offer an advantage in games
