Hello everyone

I have a really stupid question, I have a motherboard X99 Classified, I would like to know what is the slot associated with cpu. Here is an article that explains his. I would like to do Pci-passthrough with my PC. Thank you for your reply :)

Plugging your guest GPU in an unisolated CPU-based PCIe slot

Not all PCI-E slots are the same. Most motherboards have PCIe slots provided by both the CPU and the PCH. Depending on your CPU, it is possible that your processor-based PCIe slot does not support isolation properly, in which case the PCI slot itself will be seen to be connected to it.

Hardwarezone has a diagram of X99 chipset

    Intel

Looks like the PCIe assigned to x16 3.0

The CPU you use can have a different number of PCIe lanes

If I understood correctly. In fact whatever the slot except the 5 and 4 everything should work well?

Sorry if I do not understand well. Pci-passthrough is new to me

PE5 is only a x4 slot, it may be a full size that the card will fit but it will only use 4 lanes pulled from the PCH. use PE2 or PE4 for x8 cpu lanes. what are you trying to set up?

I would like to do Pci-passthrough with linux. I am currently on Voidlinux. But I can not do Pci-pass, I may have put my card in a bad slot. He says the GPU is isolated. I can not get the VGA compatible controller, so right now I'm in the PE4 slot. Should I put it in another slot? Sorry for my english it's not my native language

Slots one, two, four and six should all work. Are you trying to do KVM for gaming?
