I have absolutely no idea why this started happening this week but Im getting aweful performance while gaming and running my 1080Ti's in SLI. It was fine before so im not sure what changed. I went from playing The Division at 4K/60FPS on ultra/high settings to having to run the game at mostly low settings to achieve 60FPS at 4K. The Division is the most dramatic example, but its relatively the same case with all my other games that Ive tested this week. Some games I can't even do 4K in now. And to further complicate the situation, I get better performance by removing the 2nd card and running with a single GPU. Yes yes I know that some games arent SLI optimized and whatnot, BUT these are the same games that I was doing better with SLI enabled. So any ideas or guesses as to what is happening? TLDR: My PC used to crush games at 4K in SLI and now for some reason I can barely do 4K and have to run some games in 1080P. If I remove 1 of the GPUs then I get much better performance, but not like it was before. Thanks for reading! PS- Im not a 4K snob or high end PC elitest. There's just something very wrong with my PC right now and I spent way too much money on these parts for them to be performing terribly. i7 7700K 2 GTX 1080Ti's SLI Asus Hero IX MoBo 16GB RAM 1000W PSU NZXT AIO CPU liquid cooler

Have you changed your graphics drivers lately? If yes, going back to older ones might fix the issue.

I caught it before.. it was already downloaded and was waiting for me to restart to load it.. I beat it to the punch by just updating it myself to the newest 388.31.
I believe It's something new in the fall update.

I did let windows update last week. Could that be the problem? How can I fix this? Is there any way to test and see if my GPUs are not functioning at peak level?

Try "Disable fullscreen optimizations" in your game shortcut compatibility tab. Automatic driver update can be disabled in Win 10 Pro using Run->gpedit.msc->administrative templates->windows components->windows update->Do not include drivers with Windows Updates = Enabled. Items "Configure Automatic Updates","Turn on Software Notifications" (=Disabled) and "No auto-restart..." are also useful.

Using system restore to restore your system to a previous day when everything was working correctly is recommended.

In that case do #2 listed here. Just make sure you choose a older driver.

If the older driver doesn't fix the problem you'll most likely need to reinstall a older version of windows to fix the issue. Try disabling fullscreen optimization as suggested in post #7 before installing a older version of windows.
