So I have a GTX780 on win 7 and just recently after about 5 mins of playing any game the screens go blank and i get a weird sound... windows seems to keep running and so do the games and voip as the sound from the games and from voip keeps working. Only a reset brings the monitors back on.
Any idea what this might be or how I should trouble shoot it?

If what Sajin directed doesn't work, try using a different output in the rear of the GPU. I've had the same issue where it seemed one of my DVI's was going bust for quite some time, 1-2+ years. Mind you I had tried switching power and video cables, etc. It would come and go till I gave it a shot and switched it to another connector and haven't had an incident since.

Ok hade same problem with my gtx780, worked fine in Windows Tried everything but att last i tried to change thermal past and that was it . Now it works Gr8

Forgett what i told you. Today it is totalt dead. My screen i black and the gpus fans are on max speed. At first i was thinking that my Psu hade died but when i Tried a diffrent grafik card it started up and worked Gr8

I am sorry that you are having an issue with black screens. When the card's fans ramp up to 100% fan speed attributed with a black screen, this indicates that the Over-Current Protection feature on the card is being triggered. This can be caused by one of two things;
1. The card has faulty OCP
2. The Power Supply's 12v rail is fluctuating in voltage
There are some troubleshooting steps we can do to isolate the source of the issue. The first (easiest) method would be to test the card in another system. If the issue follows the card to another system, the issue would likely be with the card.
The second method would be to test another power supply in the system. If the issue goes away with another power supply in the system, the issue is likely the power supply's 12v rail fluctuating in voltage under load.
If you are able to troubleshoot this issue, and you have isolated the issue, please let us know of the results!
