Looking for a new monitor for my new build. Was wondering/hoping someone had some insight on this specific model before I make the purchase. $40.00 rebate until August 1st, but the stock is low so if anyone could provide some information it would be much appreciated.
 
Is $409.99 CAD a good price for this hardware?

    I would go with a good name brand like Samsung, LG, or a Dell. I think you'll be happier.

    I was under the impression AOC was a fairly solid monitor manufacturer.
     
    My 1080p Samsung is tip top. Just touch it and you feel that build quality but my problem currently is monetary. Samsungs and LG's in the 28"-32" 1440p category are bloody expensive. I found this AOC and began doing some research. So far consumers on Newegg and Amazon are happy with it but I wanted to get more feedback on forums if I could.
     
    And what do you mean by "happier"? Longevity? Overall build quality? No back light bleed? Dead pixels? Picture sharpness?

    All of that. Of course different people have different opinions. Through experiences with different monitors, or other peoples recommendations. The AOC brand would be called part of a "budget build".

    That is in fact my problem. Budget. However since I watch my share of films for the purpose of providing ratings, I prefer a larger monitor and it's hard to find something with a 32" screen at a decent price. Although it sounds like I may be taking a risk with AOC the price is much better than the Samsung and LG alternatives. And I'm staying away from ASUS for the time being. Too much BLB and too many dead pixels.

    Theres nothing wrong with AOC. They are a Canadian company that's been around quite awhile and are pretty decent with there customer service. I wouldn't buy another Samsung TV or monitor ever again though cause I bought a Tv for my parents that its power circuitry went and my brother had a monitor that kept overheating and freezing. LG ive never had experience with but they do make many of the base screens so they might be ok. Don't go HP, they only give you one year warrantys on new monitors and TVs, which is ridiculous and Dell seems to be historically pretty decent so I don't think youd have issues with them.

    I agree. Get the Monitor, and post back. Love to know how it went.

    I will be going with this monitor however, since I'm waiting for an AIB RX Vega as well I will hold off a while longer and see if the prices drop further since I don't actually need it right away. But I'll update this thread with my personal review of the monitor once everything is up and running.
