HI. I have question about review Gtx 1080 Founders. Link: Card is on stock, auto? If yes,why perfcap is green PWR and not THRM ( purple ) ? I ask because on screen it hitted temp limit. Why is all over green when it hits temp limit. Maybe i dont understand how pascal works ? Anyone, can explain me this behavior? Thaaaaank you . Review is Gtx 1080 FOUNDER EDITIONS in hardforum.com

As Sajin has stated in the past: "vRel = Reliability. Indicating perf is limited by reliability voltage. VOp = Operating. Indicating perf is limited by max operating voltage. Pwr = Power. Indicating perf is limited by total power limit. Thrm = Thermal. Indicating perf is limited by temperature limit. Util = Utilization. Indicating perf is limited by GPU utilization." It's likely that power was prioritized and not temp.

Sorry, I'm a bit busy driving around, I did go to their site an look at version history that only vent as far back as 1.2.0.
My point was, maybe the op should update?

1080 Ti FE stock - weird behaviour - clip in topic.

Hello. I have a question about 1080 TI FE gameplay .
Here is video: youtube.com/watch?v=j-gbSE0br4M&index=33&list=UUwEdZDssNzrq2YZxa****SFQ As you can see temps go to 86C and limit is still VOLTAGE,not temperature. I ask author and he said all is auto and stock. Any ideas?

But temp is 83C. Default temp limit 82. So why gpuz show green PWR instead of purple THRM?

The driver can prioritize power or temperature. It is highly likely that both are at the limit, but since power is being prioritized, temp was allowed to slightly exceed its limit without affecting the gpu boost in any additional way since it was already being limited by the power limit slightly earlier. I believe that whichever parameter first affected gpu boost is the parameter which will continue to display as being the perfcap reason, until another parameter exceeds to such a point that gpu boost is further decreased. Since the temp limit didn't decrease gpu boost by any additional amount, the power limit continues to display since it was the parameter which reached its limit first. But, to be sure, please update your ancient version of GPU-Z and then test again.

Why did you create another topic with the same basic question? You already got answers. This is becoming pointless and spammy. https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2697953Here is an example. Let's pretend that your video card boosts to 2000 MHz normally. Let's pretend that you reach a power threshold of 200 watts which makes it need to decrease boost from 2000 MHz to 1800 MHz. Let's then say that you reach 90c core temperature which makes it need to decrease boost from 2000 MHz to 1900 MHz. Since the card is already at 1800 MHz due to the power limit, the temperature limit has no effect, even though it does exist and has been reached. The card already reached an earlier limit which is less than or equal to the new limit. Therefore, the earier limit is still displayed until a new limit in the future causes a more agressive decrease in performance.
