I just purchased a gtx 980ti sc. part number: 06G-P4-4995-KR. with acx 2.0 cooler.

i'm planning to get a evga gtx 980 ti hybrid kit: 400-HY-0996-B1.

is it compatible? or does the kit only work with reference models of the 980 ti?

i have it installed in a define nano S mini itx case. have 4 fans, 2 front, 1 bottom, 1 rear.

with stock speeds running 3dmark stress test it hits 80c.

is this even normal?

That cooler is only for reference cards. According to this review 80c is about 5c high from where it should be.

    thanks for the answers Sajin.

that's a bummer. The gpu sits like 1 inch on top of the PSU on the define nano S. even with a fan blowing fresh air into the second fan of the GPU from the bottom, the card is pretty hot.

i'm not quite confortable with my GPU hitting 80 degrees at load. although playing games like overwatch it is hovering around 75c (80c is only when i benchmark it).

is there any other AIO kits i can install into this?

how safe are maxwell based cards @ 80 degrees?

i had a gtx 970 on my main rig before, that thing used to stay at less than 70 degrees even when benchmarking. But it was in a case with ridiculously good airflow (haf-x).

    Funny you ask.
    I have a haf-x case.
My Titan X Maxwell when it started hitting 80's it started going out, and eventually I had to rma it.
My rma'ed card is cooler than that, but I still put it on water (the Corsair kit with an H-90).
Better to spend a little for cooling than have it go out on you.

    my haf x had:

    front 230mm oem fan
    top: 2 x 140mm noctua
    side: 4 x 120mm noctua
    bottom: 1 x 140mm noctua
    rear: 1 x 140mm noctua

and a noctua nh-d14 as my cpu cooler.

this thing powered an i5-2500k to 5.0ghz for almost 4 years and kept my x-fire setup at below 70c at max load.

loved the case for it's amazing airflow, but it was getting loud and outdated.
