I am waiting for this as I sold my GTX 1080 for cash to get it as well as AMD Ryzen.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

My birthday was yesterday and I may see if I can get the wife to get me a 1080 at Microcenter today. Then when EVGA releases the 1080Ti's for stepup I will do stepup to one and water cool it.

Do you game?  Ryzen is turning out to be a bottleneck in gaming for some reason.  Just an FYI

I wish.  Took me long enough to afford the 1080.    It suits me just fine, everything I throw at it, it can handle with 0 issues.    I am looking to score a 980TI used though, just to fold on... I hope cheaply from others upgrading.  hah

imma try and sell two of my 1070's for 300 cash and then buy two 1080ti's. i suspect that they will be nearly the same ppd as the Titan XP.

Think I'll wait for Volta, read the reviews of 1080Ti in the wild, and snap up some deals as people loose interest in plain 1080s if I choose to add to my Folding.  I've not seen much reason to abandon my 900 series Titan X SC as the PPD is about as strong as my 1080FE

I'll wait till Volta then snatch up a cheap 1080ti.

Should be perfect for folding and 3440x1440

As long as my AMD are still running I might do the same.

I would love to grab a ti, it will depend on whether or not it is added to step-up in 7 days or less. Looking to be to close to call. I think the 11th is my last day. lol!

Good luck, crossing my fingers for you.

Well was going to run by Microcenter, but on my way there my youngest got sick. So I suppose that will have to wait.

If the 1080 Ti had been out back in Jan I would've bought one... but now that I have an R9 380 to use I'm not in desperate need of a GPU anymore. So I'm going to wait for Volta... I am hoping HBM2 will bring a big performance jump but I'm not sure if it will happen given how much memory compression NVIDIA already uses.

Not having used an AMD GPU in so long it's been especially surprising to me that F@H no longer lags GPU-accelerated programs. NVIDIA's drivers apparently still need major work in that department, so that was the final decider in not grabbing a 1080 Ti.

I've definitely decided to do the upgrade. My 1080FTW2 from the iCX upgrade will make it very cheap to add a good boost. Then I can sell my 970 to cover the cost.

Depends on how much cash I've got available, an extra card is planned for this year.

I'll be stepping up to a 1080 ti once my iCX upgrade is completed.  Thinking of water cooling my 980ti classified as well.

The 1080ti step up has been fast on epic porportions. Many users have always been approved to ship their cards back!

Well pulled the trigger and got a FE on the way.  I will be interested in seeing  if the blow style cooler will help cool down my computer some.  Right now with a 1070FTW and 1080FTW I am dropping allot of heat in my case folding 24x7.  I will be moving the 1080FTW down a slot and have the TI in the top slot.  My motherboard layout gives me a full slot between the cards so hoping getting the top card dumping its heat outside the case will help some.

I went ahead and ordered one, so I'll have two 1080s and a 1080 ti all at once (keeping the 1080s folding and gaming with the ti perhaps, til the iCX upgrade to step up option is ready anyway. then I'll have two tis and a 1080 hybrid (is the plan ATM anyway)

Yeah going to move the 1070FTW to my second folding box and give my son the slower of the 2 1070SC's in that box.  That card will replace his aging original Titan in his rig.  That will leave me the 1080TI FE and 1080FTW folding in my main computer.

My 1080 FTW2 just arrived two days ago. I'm gonna wait and see if they drop an iCX version in the stepup program. That or evga releases an aio cooler for it. I can't afford better cooling from a third party right now, but 150 evga bucks would enable that.

The arstechnica review has boinc and folding benchmarks. Significant gains on both. The charts aren't really to scale so look at the numbers. At least on mobile they aren't linear.

I had the 1070ftw, did the upgrade for 1070ftw2 and jumped in queue for the 1080ti. Debating if I should just make the 1080ti for folding only, I have my 780ti on my water loop that I'm not moving slots for. Plays everything fine. Is it possible for another card slot to be the primary? Like by switching the display port from 780 to 1080 instead?

You can do that, but it can cause some havoc with certain games. Windows will send to whatever the monitor is plugged into. Some games will still detect the primary card as the closest to CPU. But most should work correctly, especially if you set your preferences in the nvidia control panel.

Thanks, I might give it a shot to test out the 1080ti hah. Hopefully, my 850w psu won't complain. It ran the 780ti & 1070ftw both folding with no issues.
Though probably the 1080ti ftw3 might have issues if I were to swap out for that when it releases. I might try that EVGA 1000w p2 or t2.
