Sorry for posting this here but I've already tried else where.

A particular game keeps crashing, seemingly at random. This is what it looks like in Event Viewer.

I have tried searching online for a possible solution as well as resorting to numerous clean installs of Windows 10 but nothing appears to resolve the issue.

Intel Core i7 8700K
G.Skill Trident Z 16GB
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X HERO
Samsung 970 EVO 250GB (Boot Drive)
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
Seagate FireCuda 3.5" SSHD 2TB

Does this occur when your cpu is running stock clocks along with your gpu running underclocked to max negative values on the core & memory?

My 8700k is running at an all core boost of 4.7Ghz and my gpu is running at stock settings.

Why not list the game, maybe someone else had the same issue.

Have you updated your mobo Intel chipset driver lately?

Sorry I misread your question. Assuming the game no longer crashes with the above config, how does that help because I'll just have crippled performance not only for that particular game but everything?

It helps because you either know...

#1 Your cpu overclock isn't stable. or...
#2 Your video card isn't stable at factory clocks.

So after some testing it appears my memories xmp profile is to blame.

so you set the XPM profile (settings) manually in the BIOS ?

Or are you just running default clocks on the RAM ?

Always best for stability to set the RAM voltage manually

I've tried simply enabling xmp and letting all the necessary setting be applied automatically and I've also tried setting my memories xmp profile by manually changing all the applicable settings. Both result in the game in question crashing sooner or later.

Hey you suggested it was either my CPU or GPU!

I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions on tweaking my memory aside from lowering the clock speed maybe since I'd rather not have to go lower than the 3000MHz the XMP Profile sets it at.
