1080 FTW + EK Waterblock owners: *2* or *3* thermal pads come with the blocks?

The adventure never ends....

I'm curious if any other 1080 FTW owners have run into this with recently bought EK full cover waterblocks for the 1080 FTW:
My pair of EK waterblocks came in today, all the way from Slovenia.  The instructions packed with them match what is available on their website and state and show that there are *3* thermal pads included.  One 0.5mm "E" pad - already perf'd/cut into 8 little memory chip sized padlets, One 0.5mm "F" pad that is supposed to go over the VRM's, and a 1.0mm "G" pad that is supposed to go over the MOSFET's.

However both of my blocks, direct from EKWB, only came with the "E" pad and the "G" pad in the ziplock bag with the thermal pads in them,  and there is no long, skinny 0.5mm F pad anywhere else in either kit.

Have they revised the pads and just not updated their instructions?  I haven't taken my 1080's air coolers off yet.  With the size of pads they say F and G are, I am having  a little trouble understanding how the area they show in the drawing that F and G pads are supposed to cover are going to be covered by the G pad in the kit - especially since F is 0.5mm and G is 1mm....

I did notice that under the Step 3 "Cutting Thermal Pads" section of their installation manual, in one place ("the bottom") they actually call both pads Thermal pad F - but up above that in the same section under Replacement thermal pads: they name them  F and G (and have different EAN part numbers for them).

I have seen one youtube vid of someone installing an EKWB  on their 1080 FTW and they definitely had 3 pads on theirs.

Bottom line:  Is this a case of Bad (old) instructions or missing parts?

Sorry, I'm new to 1080 FTW's.  I know there has been lots of lively debate and drama about the thickness of the thermal pads with the stock aircooling but I was hoping to avoid all that putting EK's on top of them.  If EK changed up on their pads they ought to have some updated instructions on their site.

I'm just curious if anyone else ran into this, and what was the outcome?

If EK shorted me on thermal pads they might just be getting their kits back.

Thanks

Best bet is to ask them. I'm pretty sure though you should have pads for the VRM. Don't think I would go to the hassle of sending them back though. Would tell them to send me what she have been included.

    Yes, you are missing Pads

One of my 3 recent (October purchase from online Retailer) 10 series EK blocks was missing one of the pads, happens

Count the pre-cut Memory pads, make sure there are enough.  If you are careful you can reuse stock pads.

Just reach out to EK, I got mine from where the WBs were purchased

Thanks everyone - wow lots of replies.

Indeed, they replied back and said yes there were supposed to be 3 pads.  As I knew would be the case.  They actually told me to just put them together without the F pads for now, it wasn't that important, and then if I would go fill out an RMA request they could send me some pads and I could put them on later.  (!?!?!?)

    1. Kind of defeats the purpose of what I paid for shipping to get everything here in time for me to do the project this (3 day) weekend when I have time to do it (project is mainly about ripping out/replacing the failing AIO CPU cooler setup with a real watercooling loop - but doing VGA blocks while I'm at it - the failing CPU cooler is the real reason I can't dilly dally around waiting...)

    2. I was in a hurry, yes, (#1 above) but I am not the sort of person that is going to do it wrong, then when the pads come in days, weeks, or however long later, take it back apart (break down a watercooling loop and watercooled SLI'd video cards?) to put a couple more thermal pads in.   I kind of doubt there are many people at all who have built and maintained watercooled PC's that would be OK with that.

Fortunately Performance PC's had some of the pads on hand.  I would have ordered the gear from them in the first place - they're great people to deal with - but they had run out of stock on them last week.  In any case, they got me fixed up and I'll have the pads tomorrow.  They also actually got more of the nickel/plexi 1080 FTW blocks in too, and had 2 left earlier today (so if anybody is looking, they have a 10% off sale coupon for a few days).

In the future I'll definitely not be ordering EK gear directly from EKWB.

Glad you found a way to get your missing Pad Faster

Unless your into fast disconnects; I agree it seems like a strange - lot of work for you - answer from EK

I had bought mine from Performance and 1 of 3 had a missing pad - I feel your pain

EK needs to step-up their Production system & QC

I bought my 2 from performance and both had the 3 pads x2 ea. Had plenty enough to mount the cards twice ea.

Though they were prob old stock from years ago.
