EVGA 2 GB GDDR5 750 Ti 128 bit (Not FTW or SC)

Acer Veriton M2631 i5 4440 3.1 GHz
EVGA 600 B PSU
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Bios is up to date.
I've tried older drivers for the GPU and the newest drivers for the GPU.
Verified the onboard adapter is disabled in the BIOS etc..

This is my second card, 1 DOA is nearly impossible enough... 2, back to back... my money is on it not being a DOA issue.

With HDMI only it works in safe mode and before drivers are installed.  After I install, seemingly, any version of the drivers it says not connected and goes into power saving mode after the reboot.

I'm at a loss.  I've scoured the internet and can't find a solution or any noted compatibility conflicts.  I initially tried with a logisys 480 w PSU but upgraded to teh EVGA 600 B after discovering how low end the logisys was.

If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.  I'm at wits end.

    Welcome to the Forum Backwards710
Two Card DOA back to back is hard to see now a days.
Veriton M2631 BIOS Corrupted? Over on their website, I would reset the Bios back to the Defaults and install the current Bios again.
Re-Fresh the Bios that is. Good that you posted over on Acers website Geforce 750 ti Veriton m2631 I would wait to see what other say here as well.

    welcome to the forums Backwards710

OC software like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X, should be uninstalled first, then DDU drivers, then reinstall OC software - for best stability

I run DDU, and custom install the EVGA / Nvidia drivers --- Only selecting PhysX and the actual GPU driver, none of the other "stuff" and select clean install. ( I do NOT load GeForce Experience software, Nvidia 3D drivers, Nvidia Sound )

    Avoid installing multiple sound drivers.

Either - MB, Sound card or the Nvidia drivers.

If your not pushing sound to your monitor or TV through HDMI, you do not need the drivers from Nvidia.

Get your downloads then, Go off line - for security - close all background software - even your security software (pause it or stop it)

    Then load your new drivers

This was the first driver I tried, after the Come with/CD version and the newest available.  No dice.

Sorry man, most of this is over my head.  I used to be able to keep up (circa 1995) then life happened.

    OC and DDU?

I only didn't install the 3D graphics drivers. There were two I believe.  My goal was to run the sound through the monitor (LG 22MP56) via HDMI so I actually diabled the on board sound in the BIOS as well, so I wouldn't think there would be any conflict where that's concerned.  I also selected clean install (force of habit even on first install).

I appreciate the response.  I'll try a combination of A and B, reset the BIOS and reinstall not using Experience software this time.

    Thank you.

    OC = overclock or overclocking

DDU = Display Driver Uninstaller  -- is a special software, you use it in safe mode - it will remove old video driver software and remove any fingerprints from the Window's registry.

Yes, you are correct if you disable the MB sound -  it should work (remove the MB sound driver in Device Manager if you have any conflicts).

Unfortunately I can't get this to work.

I did find a newer BIOS, P21-B3 as opposed to P21-A3, but still nothing.  I'm not willing to go to the ends of the Earth to try and get it to work (once upon a time, maybe).  I don't want to sit on it for 3 months either, while I do, and risk losing refund opportunity.  It's beyond disappointing, especially thinking back to how cut and dry things used  to be(IRQ conflict, change the jumper on the card, **** just won't work because of "this" so don't bother trying...) and how "Plug and Play" was supposed to make things even easier.

I'm just a little sour because I had high hopes.

I appreciate all of the advice nonetheless.

Older PC will work with 600 series GPUs.

What year is this PC ?

What is the age of the BIOS currently installed?

Unfortunately the newer 700 series, like you have do need to be supported by the MB and it's BIOS.

Wish I could make it easier.

I've seen this many times. Your card is defective. Test the card in another machine to verify.

Got the PC in December 2014, BIOS is from 2015, but not sure how old the technology is itself.

I suspected it might be an age issue so I will look to an older series GPU.

    Thanks again for the help.

Driver 320.49 (2013/11/06) was only for the older GTX 600 and Below Cards, that was the last supported driver for your computer.

    Glad to help,

Did you read this link ? EVGA GT 730 in an older Dell PC

The EVGA GT 730 worked in that PC - was used for basic streaming & internet -- not intended for gaming

Dell PC Spec:  CPU: I5-650,  RAM: 8 GB,  PSU stock 300W

    BIOS A07, build date: 11/13/2010
/ release date 23 Dec 2010 / last updated 07 Jul 2012 ---- (this is the latest and greatest)

Maybe Acer customer service will have some good advice ?

    GL,

Let us know - update when you learn more - new GPU

The 750 ti was released in January of 2014. If the latest bios is from 2015 then it should have no problem supporting the 750 ti. The card is most likely defective and needs to be tested in another computer.

I have great respect for you experience -- was not ignoring your posts - you may be on target with the DOA

    However in OP
"This is my second card, 1 DOA is nearly impossible enough... 2, back to back... my money is on it not being a DOA issue."

Possible 2 DOA ?  OK sure.  Likely -- not really - IMO

That is why I chose to take a different direction.

Backwards710, can you have this GPU tested in another PC ?  -- Maybe a friends or a repair shop if this is your only PC

I never did find a Bios Download for the OP's MB.
May need to Search by Serial Number or SNID so the OP May See One.

People are even struggling with the Acer 3970

Convention would dictate that a M2631 is Older or lesser than a M3970 ---- different models though ----- seems Acer is upgrade poor

" I was able to get the system to boot with video (and use this card) by entering the BIOS and disabling Quiet Boot.

The only remaining problem I am having is that with this card installed I cannot access the BIOS, so have to swap another card in to acccess the BIOS."
