Unfortunately I have a ribbon bridge, but as soon as the EVGA HB 1 slots are available in July I'm definitely upgrading.

Nice. I don't envy SLI at all though. Always have and always will scale bad along with the other issues that come with it. Complete waste imo. Since Nvidia has basically axed finally 3-4 way SLI. I imagine 2 cards will be next on the chopping block down the line. Even Nvidia don't want to deal with it any more it looks like.

there are definitely people green with envy looking at that photo

Not if they were having the amount of trouble and frustration I've been having since I installed them. I think I have a bad card; I'm working on more testing but since I put them in I've been getting a "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" blue screen error. I've tested the ram, did a complete clean install of Windows and I still keep getting the same error. I'm going to test them individually in a little while to narrow it down. Ugh.

Probably the worst error one can get, mostly due to hardware, but the last time I was getting it, it was because of the drivers.

lol nice but also very Sade , even with the fact that one on one or two on two u will game faster and lol in benchmarks 4 on 4 you will be faster. but in the real world of gaming your 2 card marks is what you will game at not a 4 card mark. where as my 4 card mark is faster than your 2 card and I can game at my 4 card mark.      and as for dx 12 it's a real big help for me and you both by stacking  the ram of are cared to help handle the res. witch for me is 7680 by 1440 all max and on the few game that are out that are using dx12  it give me 24g ram and u 16g so for now I will  wate till they unlock 4/way and come out with the titan's. if not I will just get 4 titan x's no way will I buy into this game of nvida's again.

Yeah I do not see SLI scaling really worth it.  Now 2 them for Folding would rock.  I have a FTW and a 980TI Folding in my rig and use the FTW for gaming on my Dell G-Sync monitor.

So it turns out my motherboard went bad the same day I got my new cards.  I spent all weekend testing every single component over and over to come to that conclusion.  It was terrible..  I put the new MB in and now I'm up and running.

Here are the scores with the new rig.

    Firestrike Extreme: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9011830

    Firestrike Ultra: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9011751

    I'm happy with the results.

Considering every card that is released is always as fast as the sli of the precious card, the speed goodness only lasts like 6months.

This is why one who has the previous generation (Maxwell) should be wary of upgrading to the next generation, and should consider holding off to the next generation (that being Volta) so then they definitely will feel the true upgrade, they will get their money's worth. If this is not an option, and you have to have the latest and greatest, if they have x80, then get the x80ti(s). THat will be a good upgrade too.

Yep. That's my plan. 780ti Classified owner here who is waiting for the 1080ti or 1080 Titan (whatever that may be called). I'm playing on a 1440p monitor with gsync at 144hz so I can't wait until I can really push some of the newer games.

A lot of people think they have to jump on something new when it first comes out, not realizing what they have is still good. You did nice with your setup.

Yes, everybody knows the 1080TI and Pascal Titan will blow up the 1080. It's going to be a huge laugh.

I admit that I would not mind having some new 1080s, but if I have awesome framerates now with 2 980s, what's the point in upgrading?

None for me, but I have 2 slots between my cards and really good airflow in my case.  On a 20 min loop of FS Ultra I had a peak temp of 71c with a custom fan profile.
