I'm currently running with a 980 ti Hyrbrid. All the comparisons I've seen just refer to the 980, not the 980 ti. What's the performance difference between the 1080 and 980ti?

We will know next week when the NDA ends on the Founder Edition and not before.

No. Just wait for the 1080 Ti or Classified. Maybe you would be annoyed about your impatience at the time of the -Ti or Classified-release. A little rationality - in aquisition to mature calculation - doesn't hurt too. Edit:...

I would also say it will probably depend on the application. We still do not have a full detailed breakdown of specs but if the pixel clock is significantly higher you can expect better performance with higher refresh rates or VR. This looks to be the case perhaps:

We will know more on the 17th when real benchmarks hit and not the cherry picked numbers from the vendor. Everyone is hung up on 2X the performance in VR and that is a very different beast where most of us don't fall into for usage anyway. And there were architecture changes made specifically for VR that are in that number. And I don't have a lot of faith in AoS at this point anyway. Everyone made a big deal about the gains in DX12 for the AMD cards but they still didn't beat the Nvidia cards. So yay for AMD. Your still in second place for overall performance. You are just closer to the top dog. If developers make DX12 games only and AMD smokes them, then they set off fireworks. The biggest thing for some may be the power requirements. We won't see those until next week either in real world usage.

I would wait on reviews 1st before buying anything. We heard this before in the past. 2x the performance of this or that.... But in reality, it opened Excel twice as fast. If NVidia's claims are true, then we should see a big leap over a standard gtx 980 with most benchmark games. I'm using 2x GTX 970 SSC in SLI, and would totally upgrade if 1 single 1080 outperforms by even 10%. This is a savings in power/heat as well. Especially if I begin to fold again.

I have my Hybrid running at 1550/7800 stock bios at +50 voltage on afterburner. I am waiting on Big Boy Pascal. I think it is going to smash the 1080. Maybe if I could swap for $100 bucks then I might but I do not see that happening. My Hybrid is running perfectly right now. I have push pull fans and I have both those fans and the pump running off my fan controller so it is very very quiet.

I stuck with my SLI'd 680 Classifieds and skipped over the 7 series. I currently have (2) 980ti classifieds watercooled in SLI and will probably skip over the 10 series. I would think a single 10 series card would have a hard time outdoing (2) 980's, but I maybe wrong....been wrong before!

^^^ Yup, I'm guessing maybe 15% over a 980TI. The 1080 is a massively cut down version of the full chip, something like 2500 shader cores whereas the full chip is supposed to be like 4k+ cores?
The TI/Titan whatever they'll be called will be the go to for high end, noooo doubt. A 980TI is already much faster than a 980. Now, exaggerate that even further for the 10 series.

The CEO said 1080 was faster than two 980's SLI, not the TI version. I'll believe him when I see the real benches. To answer to OP: NO, I'd wait for 1080Ti or pascal Titan.

Yes it is and the expectations are going to be very high with all the claims from Nvidia.
Sorry about this step-up subject, 4th day and I'm not gettin' any answers from that thread. I have a Question : Depending on the difference in payment, which version of the GTX 1080 will we be able get? Nivida's Founders or EVGA's SC, FTW ACX 2.0 version?

I say wait until 1080 and get a custom card from AIB. Should be out fairly soon.

As of now I have no intention of upgrading from my 980 Ti hybrid to a 1080. Just like I didn't upgrade from 780 Ti to 980. Nvidia is going to release a non-gimped big chip (or chips) like it always does to one-up AMD, and it's worth spending an extra $100-$300 when it does come out (in my opinion) if you keep your GPU for at least 2 years. Don't fall for the 1080 if you already have a 980 Ti however tempting it may be. The only exception being if you have a 980 Ti that does not OC well at all, then maybe I'd consider selling it and buying a 1080. @Fancy19- tough call if you're buying a new GPU and not coming from a 980 Ti. NO WAY should you waste money on the 1080 Fanboy Edition. You really can't go wrong with either a 1080 or 980 Ti though if you aren't playing many AAA games. If you do go with the 1080, be prepared for the Ti variant to drop down the road and think about how you'll feel when that happens after you've dropped $600+ on a new GPU. Also I would get a hybrid cooler card, they are awesome. Wait for the 1080 Hybrid if you do decide to get a 1080.
