Hello everyone, I've just finished moving my build over to my Z390 DARK motherboard (coming from ROG Z390 XI APEX for anyone wondering). Upon booting the system, I found out it wouldn't boot. The 2 status leds for DIMM 1 and 2 both pulsate bright red, all other status LEDS seem to indicate no error. The board remains powered but there is no screen output. The LED status display endlessly cycles through the codes; 7F, 30 and 4C. I've tried looking up the error codes in the manual but with no success (all codes state reserved for future use).
After fiddling around a while I've discovered the system boots and runs fine with only DIMM2 populated. If I populate DIMM1 (either solo or with DIMM2), the story above happens. I've ran this exact system on my Z390 DARK before on a test bench, everything worked fine then. The mobo hasn't been used since then, until now that is.
Did I somehow break my DIMM1 slot or am I completely missing something?
Thanks in advance!

Clear CMOS..Swap the RAM around, maybe a bad stick..Check/reseat all connections. Get the thing running with only 1 stick or RAM and then check to see if you have the latest BIOS ( 1.07 as of now) installed..Install if needed. What's the RAM part number you have?

You sure you didn't bend any pins in the process? Check the cpu socket for bent pins.

In addition to that what type of cooling do you have? If you have an air cooler for the CPU make sure you didn't tighten down the cooler too much.

System is running fine with only 1 stick. I've already tried swapping the sticks around, both sticks run fine. The RAM used is: G.skill F4-4600C18D-GTZR. The RAM profile is identical to when I ran the system on the test bench. My BIOS is one version behind I believe, I will update the board. Already cleared CMOS with no result. Guess it's worth trying to re-seat the CPU, this will be my next step. rjohnson11 In addition to that what type of cooling do you have? If you have an air cooler for the CPU make sure you didn't tighten down the cooler too much.
I cant see any bent pins on the DIMM sockets themselves, will have to check for the CPU. Also the cooler used is the Antifec DREI CPU block fitted to a custom loop. The screws used have springs which prevent over tightening, I don't think this is the case Thanks for the replies all! I'll try to re-seat the CPU and reconnect everything. I'll report here when done!

Great news! I've re-seated my CPU. Checked extensively for bent pins but could not spot anything out of order. When I took the CPU out for cleaning I noticed two minuscule spots on two of it's connector plates. I gave the bottom a good cleaning with 96% alcohol. With the CPU and DIMM slot uncovered anyway I decided to gently blow some air through the slots using a small football pump. Just in case there was any dust or dirt interfering with a pin. Maby worth mentioning also I reconnected the main ATX and P4/8 connectors. Reinstalled everything with immediate success on boot! No idea as to what the culprit was in the end. Kind off feel like an idiot it was such a simple solution, nonetheless I'm absolutely overjoy!
Thanks a lot for thinking with me!
