So I have had my GTX 970 ACX 2.0 SuperClocked for about four months now, and I have to say. It runs, really, really hot for what it is. I play Far Cry 4 for like 10 minutes, and the fans are spinning at 40%, and the temp averages at about 75C.......I feel like that's just too hot for an EVGA 9 series card. My airflow in my case is perfect because I had another card in it and it ran great.
If I run it with the fans turned up, it sounds like a turbine getting ready to launch. I was going to RMA it in January, but I decided to let it "break in" and see if that helped, but two months down the road and I'm stuck on the same problem.

That's not really an alarming temperature at all. Certainly not "really, really hot". The cards are configured to run warm by default in compromise for keeping the fans quieter. As you have seen, you can cool the card off more if you want using software to speed up the fans, but then the fans are louder. You decide which is more important to you, but 77°C is nothing to be concerned about.

Hmmm, 40% fan seems high compared to my GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0, I have never noticed that on my card before.

size of case and airflow makes all the difference you cant compare temp with someone that just has the same card.

Whether or not you use a furnace or air conditioner to heat or cool your room and where you live in the world makes a huge difference as well.

I live in Florida but my room is always around 76F. I have a Full Tower case with optimal airflow. My old GTX 560 never went above 56C under full load in my case, so why should a card three-four generations ahead run 20C hotter?.....and it is real loud lol
